I don't want Heyward/Russell/Coghla/Ross/Pitcher 5-9. That is awful

Here is what I think might be a sensical change.

Fowler CF
Zobrist 2b
Bryant LF
Rizzo 1B
Russell SS
Hayward RF
Baez 3B
Ross C

I think they need to try to get their best players on the field and Solar and Coghlan are not the best players they have.
Baez, Bryant and Zobrist all still start but they all change position on the field?? why?

Cubs are playing with no pressure now. Im proud of this team. Lets see if they can truly shock the world. At the end of the day, they played young. It takes one 3 game stretch to change it all. Unlike most, I know this team is going to be very good for awhile. I actually follow this team. Im just enjoying the ride.

Thank you. A dose of sanity in a sea of ugliness. This is a young team with an organization and a core built for the long haul.

Tough task ahead to be sure but not an impossible one...we've seen the Blackhawks do it more than once. Different sport but the same mindset.

It's a pretty simple equation now. You win today.....nothing else matters. Not tomorrow, next game, next week or next year. Win today and see what happens.

You mean the foul ball the wind pushed back on the field? LOLOLO. Yeah, fine piece of hitting. Idiot

Ahhhh....yet another in a very long line of "I hate Soler" posts.

It really doesn't matter how they got their hits.what matters is that they managed to get hits vs sit on a .140 or less BA. That matters.

Joe needs to switch it up to get some O. Bauer is their weak link and they need to wreck him before they run to Miller for 3 innings.

Also, what a disappointment Lackey was. They brought him over for this reason and he proved to be over the hill but with a chip on his shoulder. They really need to find a reliable 4th pitcher this off season.

No. It doesn't. My only comment was hard GB isn't really teeing off, but he certainly looked better than previous games.

Agreed. Regular season was fine, but the 4th pitcher is a weak link in the playoffs.

It's over and done. The Curse is alive and well in Chi. That's what happens when Wrigley Field is mean to a calico cat (a few years ago), another hundred years of bad luck.

I have now witnessed almost 50 years of this and it's never going to change.

If you think the Cubs can break the curse of Billy and the Goat by filling the stadium with the worlds richest ****** bags you are crazy.

Look at it this way. Even in 1906 this curse was always about "class." You fucking made a little boy cry and curse you into oblivion with the power of a helpless child, because he was impoverished and shabby and smelly low class kid with a goat in tow.

Now you are going to sell $10,000 tickets and box out all the true little boy fans and even most chicagoans and every rich person who ever lived in chicago for 2 years descends on the city and you think that will make things right?

0-2 at Wrigley, take that in.

If you want to break the curse of the goat, why don't you put 300 kids in the stands in a section from the poorest area in Chicago? All wearing scholarship of the goat t-shirts and donate some of the ridiculous proceeds of this fiasco to their education?

Just think about it. This display of opulence is not the answer, at least not to that little riddle.

I have an idea. Lets make all these rich people stand and pressure everyone to be on camera while we see who donated to the cancer racket in a fake "moment of silence" that is all about milking more money.

Are you serious. Solar is hitting a buck fifty and Coglhan has 0, I repeat that 0, hits in the playoffs. I don't understand why anyone wants to replace struggling hitters who have been better for their career and shown they can get out of a funk for struggling hitters who have not shown they can adapt and are worse players.

The reason you make the fielding changes should be obvious. With Lester on the mount there is a higher chance of bunt and Baez is a better fielder with more range. Also the swinging bunt has hurt the Cubs this series, Baez has a better chance to make those plays.

Additionally, you simplify the game for the younger players. Zobrist has more to process than 3rd so you simplify for Baez. You do the same for Bryant. 3B has more going on then the OF.

This gives you better defense where you need. It hopefully helps the younger players out by making the game simpler and hopefully that carries over to the plate.

The reason you change the to lineup is to hopefully get more guys on base for your better hitters. These playoffs series are a prime example why I was stating the Cubs need to avoid batting Bryant and Rizzo 2/3. If Fowler does not get on base it makes the lineup really shallow. If he gets on base with 2 outs it does the same.

You are right CZMan.

That batting order only made sense when they were putting a position player at 9. Kluber was able to time the 9 hole for 1 out heading into the heart every time around yesterday. He got Fowler with 2. They have forced Rizzo to lead off a bunch in this series.

I would put Russell or Heyward or Baez back at 9 if he wants to keep Bryant 2.

its too late to change things up, and I really doubt Zobrist would have turned as many double pays as Baez has. I would also rather have Baez at third but he cant play two positions. Ultimately, it would be nice to see Bryant in right field when Heyward takes over center next year instead of bringing another outfielder in.

Regular season, this team was able to give away outs and still win, it wont happen in the playoffs. Bigger concern is Javy and Addy with the big leg kicks again at the plate and these young players pressing. Contrares has been incredible behind the plate, but as it often happens, the catcher that focuses more on defense usually becomes an offensive liability.

Last game of the year at Wrigley, should jack these kids up.

Moving Bryant might take pressure off of him. He's been terrible defensively as well. I doubt Joe will make the change but at this point Bryant is pressing at the plate and in the field.

He's already on the roster, and his name is Mike Montgomery.
