Season on the line, bench your best players. Brilliant move. It was dumb as **** to play Coghlan over Heyward in Game 1, it'd be even dumber to play him over Baez.

Baez is hitting .71. He was facing lefties for the most part up to this series. And his numbers were along his season line. He hits righties far worse and these righties are owning him.

The text definition if insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a diffrent result. He has a weakness versus their starters and RH pitching in general. Will he get past it? Most likely but it is something that will take years to develop as a complete hitter. This is not the time to expect a diffrent result from the same action.

You have to get it back to Schwarber in the line up.

I said it on another thread but they have to put Baez and Contreras into PH duty vs Andrew.

Lester vs Bauer they have the advantage. I would stack the line up left. Now the question is Soler vs Cog's in left. Bryant they have to keep in to save face. Yanking him would be something.

But Fowler, Bryant, Rizzo, Zobrist, Heyward, Russell, Coghlan, Ross.

They get to Cle then they need to just add Schwarber back in and build around him and Rizzo.

That is the only chance they have. Their starters should be gassed and we have all 3 on normal rest. Bench would be RH heavy.

Now I doubt they sweep. But it should go back. At that point you hope that the bats start clicking again

They also had a pitching advantage in Game 3 and blew that one too.

I don't want Heyward/Russell/Coghla/Ross/Pitcher 5-9. That is awful

Here is what I think might be a sensical change.

Fowler CF
Zobrist 2b
Bryant LF
Rizzo 1B
Russell SS
Hayward RF
Baez 3B
Ross C

I think they need to try to get their best players on the field and Solar and Coghlan are not the best players they have.

Solar and Coglhan have been trash at the plate too. At least Baez is a plus defender.

Cubs are young. They just need one big play to get their confidence going. At least they finally hit a homer tonight.

I don't give a **** if he had no hits, you don't bench one of your biggest bats and best defender, with your season on the line, for Chris fucking Coghlan. If you guys want to go that route, bench Bryant too. He's looked equally awful. Or Russell. It's stupid.

Nah.

Maddon gonna go down with his best.

1) Fowler CF
2) Bryant 3B
3) Rizzo 1B
4) Zobrist LF
5) Soler RF
6) Russell
7) Baez
8 Ross
Lester

Against this INdians team I would bring Schwarber in early in a prime situation for Soler or Baez, and then bring heyward in and move Zobrist.

Contreras and Coghlin still available to pinch hit later. Plus Montero. Get Bauer in trouble and then force their hand early, get into that bullpen and start to wear down this team.

If they try to go 6 with the bullpen, then Tomlin gets rocked, and Kluber has little left...I mean these bats can wake up.

Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks.

All have held eras under 2.00 for long stretches this year. All can do this.

Becuase the Cubs will be back here in the next 5 years, just look at this as an opportunity for legendary status. It would be something else to come back and win in 7.

It's over and done. The Curse is alive and well in Chi. That's what happens when Wrigley Field is mean to a calico cat (a few years ago), another hundred years of bad luck.

I have now witnessed almost 50 years of this and it's never going to change.

Fowler: .235
Bryant: .071
Rizzo: .286
Zobrist: .375
Contreras: .077
Russell: .133
Heyward: .286
Baez:.118

There is a trend here. Lefties are hitting better. It is not 1 guy. Or even a few. It is pretty strait forward. Lefty righty match ups.

Now I also said I wasnt sure on Soler vs Cog's in LF. Soler did get a tripple and Cog's is sporting a .000 in his game vs Kluber. I see little wrong with Soler in left.
But it is not just Baez. Contreras and Bryant are sucking also. Russell is sucking.

Kinda pisses me off seeing Maddon sitting Heyward then he tee's off today.

Maddon has become ridged this play offs. His strength was his roster flexiblity in the season. He would put in the line up needed that game. Now it has pretty much been Baez at 2nd or bust. Contreras or bust except when Lester pitches.

When you see something working and something not working you try to lean towards what is working.

Why can't the Cubs win the World series? Would steroid use enhance their chance of finally reaching the promise land? Maybe by giving out a billy goat teddy bear to each fan will lift the curse but something needs to be done. This players are in agony and I doubt they want to wait another 108 years of this mess. So, list options on what Cubbies need to do to fix this problem and finally win it all.

Adding to it. While not great. Bryant has 3 walks for a .235 OBA. This series that ranks #9 tied with Fowler. Baez is at his BA of .118. As a 2 hitter you need to get on base. Those 3 walks could end up runs if they can string some O.

I'm seeing Rizzo, Zobrist and Heyward. 3-4-5 myself. Get Soler in at 6 and hope for a miracle.

Heyward hit two groundballs through the infield. I would hardly call that "teeing off".

He made hard contact. Thats all you can ask at this point. Soler second hit was weak contact that the wind helped.

Cubs are playing with no pressure now. Im proud of this team. Lets see if they can truly shock the world. At the end of the day, they played young. It takes one 3 game stretch to change it all. Unlike most, I know this team is going to be very good for awhile. I actually follow this team. Im just enjoying the ride.

Best players?

It's 1 player....who wasn't even a full time starter all year.

And yes, I'd sit him to start the game to get coghlan or soler in the 5 hole.

The move would be to get more offense to start the game and bring javy in late as a ph vs miller or as a defensive replacement.

Well, you have been stupid since you started posting in this forum so Im not going to take your opinion now. Signed, Joe Maddon.

Yeah. Usually double play material that ended up just out of the reach of the 2B. As for Soler, at least he can put the ball in play and look something other than lost at the plate.
