I wanted another pitbull rescue after losing my prior pupper, my wife wants a westie or norwich

Beagles are great with kids, the little one is constantly harassing both dogs...the beagle has the sense to run away, the bigger one with bluetick takes the abuse and loves it. they have a symbiotic relationship.

I have always been amazed the way most animals will take mountains of abuse from small children and never retaliate. The animal will just look at them like "I am going to bite the hell out of you if you are still doing this when you are ten."

Most dogs don't feel a threat from a kid so no biting. Rango won't bite a kid, dog or cat. Adults other than my wife or me will be ok if they don't approach him or touch one of us. His job is security. If you don't like that...
