There was/is a rumor Burke offered Phanueff + Versteeg for Seabrook + Bolland + Skille.

There was also a rumor there was like 11 offers for Seabrook. Like I said he is a "hot" commodity with the type of game he plays. Not to mention I really think one of the Anchors of this team and a leader with any team seaking him no doubt. There is a reason he wore the "A" while Toews was out.

I always thought it would be great being a fly on the wall in any GM's office this time of year. But as a fan I hate it.

LOL Burke. Throw in 4 first rounders then maybe...oh wait you don't have any of those do you Burke? Nice proposal if true LMAO.

Well.... before anything gets out of control, they need to sit down and talk to him about what it's going to take to resign him. Start there.

They've had to have had discussions with his agent. They will do nothing to jeaprodize winning. Trading Seabrook without replacing the grit and locker room presence will do just that. I can't imagine what would be coming back the other way to fill both of those shoes. Tinkering with the "core" is not good while trying to make the playoffs. Least IMO.

Yes, but all I was saying is you talk to him to understand what it's going to take ballpark wise for him to come back. If you can't make it work budget wise in the future, then you have to start looking at the deadline. Him being RFA is a nice chip.

No way can Bowman trade Seabs. That would be beyond dumb. He's a cornerstone of this team, on and off the ice, and removing him would make it collapse like a house of cards. Surely there must have been negotiations? Has the inconsistent play of the team been a factor why no deal has been done and Bowman just wants to have the option of having Seabs available if the team spirals totally out of control?

Here's some fun fuel for the fire.

Leddy might stick

7:58AM ET

Nick Leddy | Blackhawks

We thought 19-year-old Nick Leddy would stick with the Chicago Blackhawks in the preseason, but he ended up getting sent to the minors. But he was recalled last week, and he's played well enough to stick around for now.

Coach Joel Quenneville tells the Chicago Sun-Times, "Him and Jordan [Hendry] have made a nice pair and he's useful in a lot of ways."

Quenneville also said Leddy looks bigger and stronger, adding: "He should continue to get his positioning exactly where we want it to be. You just appreciate his reads and his poise out there for a young kid."

This is especially interesting because there's been some talk that the Hawks are "quietly shopping" RFA-to-be Brent Seabrook, although we're not sure how valid that report is.

Somehow I don't think Leddy is ready for a 4+ pairing this year.

I think unless we had someone the likes of Pronger (when he was younger) coming back, I doube we're trading Seabs.

I love the Leddy he is a Letang in the making but yah he's not ready for top 4 duties yet won't be next year. Leddy will have nothing to do with any rumors involving Seabs. Some people like to go for the long stretch.

Anyone think that maaaaybe just maaaaaybe Seabs doesn't want to leave Chicago and the contract negotiations will go by smoothly? I do. I don't see this club having any issues resigning Seabs. Cap wise or not cap wise. It will get done and I bet it gets done before the end of the regular season as it did last time with his negotiations.

The way I see it:

Forwards (in no particular order): Stahlberg and/or, Skille. Kopecky is on an expiring contract and UFA as well, could see him gettting traded for a good player in return but don't want to see him go. We have lots of prospect depth at forward as well.

D: Boynton and Hendry, also lots of prospect depth on D.

Don't see them trading a goalie/goalie prospect.

I don't think we have a goalie anyone would want.

I also don't think they'd trade Hossa's jock holder.

Not sure I see much tradable but you never know. Only one team in the Western Conference has no shot at the playoffs. All 14 others do.

Under the Blog they were talking about Madden. The Wild are 1pt out of a spot. No way are they dealing players. Not to mention we have about 400k in cap space. Not sure how they add because it will undoubtedly be more than we can subtract.

Forgot about Kopecky. Yeah, he could be bait. He's having a career year, so his value is probably higher than it should be. Hossa would go into a funk and not score for a while, though, if he was traded. Oh wait, that's already happening.

Stalberg, Skille, Boynton, Hendry....Meh

Not much value there.

I guess it would have to be prospect depth, but I'm not sure it's worth it to make a trade to shore up a team that isn't likely to go far in the playoffs, if they even get there.

Perhaps it's better to just play it out and not worry about a postseason run and save your prospects.

Yeah, I know the Philadelphia Flyers were an 8th seed that got in on the last day of the season.....

Trade possibilities ...IMO

Toews - No

Kane - No

Hossa - not tradeable w/contract

Sharp - I wouldnt...but wonder if its a "big deal" out there. 1yr left, then UFA. I know its unpopular to even "think" it, but depending on the return.

Kopecky - Maybe...but may ge able to keep him for bargain deal next year with BFF here

Brouwer - wouldnt...but RFA next year and may command a hefty raise

Bolland - dont think they can with lack of centers already

Pisani - no value

Skille - available

Stahlberg - available

Bickell - available...but signed cheap for 2 next years

Dowell - available

Scott - available - no value

Defence -

Keith - dont think they'd move him

Seabrook - Much like Sharp here...I wouldnt, but return would have to be awesome

Campbell - untradable

Hjarlmarsson - I would make him available

Boynton - not much value

Hendry - available

Leddy - nope

Goalies -

Crawford - nope

Turco - for salary dump? Maybe if they can get Nabokov at 600K...save some coin, etc

your two most valuable assets right now are Sharp and Seabrook I agree. Trading them would bring good return but would it help a playoff run, I think not. Your other stars like playing with both of them. I don't see much there for the taking from other teams unless they are looking at Future and I'm not sure dealing a Leddy or Morin is worth it. That's our future.

Personally...I'd like to see the Hawks move Hjarlmarsson and Stalberg.

Moving that 4.3mil combined can prob net a pretty good center and dman coming back. I think Leddy can pair with Campbell much like Hjarlmarsson did and improved when he first came up.

Hjarlmarsson doesnt hit anymore at all - he's on pace for 42 hits this year. If the Hawks could get a vet/shot blocker to fill that role in whatever deal and get another center.
