Islanders is one dysfunctional franchise, they suck year in and year out with no end in sight. Wang has taken over Dollar Bill's mantle as worst owner.

Glad to see Wiz traded. He now is at least on a contender.

On the brink of a trade perhaps?

I thought Culli played adequately and really good when compared to Boynton, who Q finally understood to scratch.

Setoguchi, Beauchemin rumors false

9:20AM ET

Devin Setoguchi | Sharks

This isn't much of a surprise, but TSN's Darren Dreger tweets that the rumors regarding a Francois Beauchemin-Devin Setoguchi swap are false. We already heard from the Jackets that they weren't discussing Beauchemin, so this is only further confirmation.

We do, however, know that Beauchemin is on the trade market, and the Sharks might be interested. However, his $3.8 million cap hit will be prohibitive. But what makes Beauchemin attractive is his immediate ability to contribute, as well as the term of his contract; it expires after this year.

The Leafs are probably seeking a top-six forward or high draft picks in return -- it seems like that's what they're always looking for -- but trade talks may not heat up until closer to the trade deadline. Meanwhile, Setoguchi's name has also been thrown around the rumor mill, but there hasn't been any real talk of him being moved quite yet.

Jackets shaking up roster

9:20AM ET

Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets demoted Kyle Wilson in order to open up a spot for another move, coach Scott Arniel tells FoxSportOhio.com's Eric Smith. Arniel is apparently unhappy with the Jackets lineup right now, so there is likely a shakeup on the way. One part of the lineup that's been lacking is the blueline, and it's possible the Jackets will look to upgrade the defense from outside the organization. But it's unlikely that the Wilson move has anything to do that.

Sens shopping everyone

8:57AM ET

Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators are looking to trade -- and on the block is just about everyone. League execs told the Ottawa Sun that they will trade everyone except d-man Erik Karlson, which means guys like Mike Fisher, Chris Phillips and Jarrko Ruutu should keep their bags packed. There is, of course, going to be talk of whether they should discuss a Jason Spezza deal, but we don't see that happening -- at least not yet.

But trading some of these guys might be tough. Fisher has two years left on his deal, he carries a hefty $4.2 million cap hit and has a no-movement clause. Phillips has a no-trade clause.

We'll see what the Sens can get done, but in the end, the biggest move might be firing coach Cory Clouston.

Commodore could be dealt

8:57AM ET

Mike Commodore | Blue Jackets

Columbus Blue Jackets coach Scott Arniel has made it clear that Mike Commodore is his No. 7 defensemen, which might be why he requested a trade, the Columbus Dispatch reports. However, it might be tough to trade him, since he makes $3.75 million a year until 2013.

So what kind of deal will it take? The Dispatch's Aaron Portzline writes, "The guess here is that to trade Commodore he'll have to take a 'bad' contract in return. This certainly doesn't help a general manager in terms of trading from a position of strength, but then trading a stay-at-home defenseman who isn't cracking the lineup almost CAN'T be done from a position of strength."

The Jackets probably won't be able to land a solid blueliner in the Commodore deal, but it doesn't mean they won't look to do exactly that. They could look to the Leafs -- Tomas Kaberle? Francois Beauchemin? -- although it will cost them a pretty penny.

Meanwhile, the Jackets could look to make several other moves, as the only untouchables are Rich Mash and maybe prospect Ryan Johansen; everyone else is fair game.

Me too, Rosh. I thought Cullimore was fine for a third pairing. I would have waived Boynton before sending Culli down. Interesting move, I guess.

Leafs eyeing Boyes

4:18AM ET

Brad Boyes | Blues

The Toronto Maple Leafs are apparently eyeing St. Louis Blues forward Brad Boyes in a potential trade, Canoe.ca reports, and the guys who might be headed out of town are John Mitchell and Tyler Bozak. We've heard rumors of a potential Boyes trade before, and the Leafs have been seeking a top-six forward for a while. So it all seems to make sense, at least on the surface.

One problem, however, might be the money: Boyes makes $4 million for the next two seasons, and the Leafs have just barely too much on the payroll to add Boyes right now. That could change in a few weeks.

In addition, the Leafs might want to pursue someone like Brad Richards next summer, and adding a $4 million cap hit now might be detrimental to that goal.

Bowman listening to offers for Seabrook/Bolland

To be fair, the article is about teams looking at Seabrook with Bolland jammed in there at the end as sort of an editorial comment.

I would rather have Bollie gone than Seabrook. Even though he's played much better now than he has, he still seems to be a 3rd liner, and 3.75 is too much for that. Ideally we keep them both. I dont' see why we cant'. We are winning now, and under the cap... Tinker good, Fixing bad....

I like both of those guys although I am hard on Seabrook at times. I don't want them to leave - that's more of the core right there. But, what we don't know is what kind of contract Seabrook wants after this year. Is he looking for Duncan Keith money and terms? If so, it won't and shouldn't happen. I would give Seabs a deal equal to Hjarms - which I think would be fair. Bolland seems to be having an off year so far but was a big piece to the puzzle last year.

Seabrook is already making what Hjarlmarsson is and Hjarlmarsson is WAY OVER PAID. If you are comparing the two YIKES.

I think Seabrook will take between 4.5 to 5 mil and he's MORE than worth it. Especially seeing how Keith has fallen off. At this point our system, which i'm quite sure you know, has no one to replace the physicality of Seabrook. Olsen could be that player but not for at least a couple of years.

Seabrook has no desire to play anywhere else so I'm sure he'll work something out. No way are the Hawks dumb enough to move him. They do that this team is in TROUBLE.

I'm so glad you have an uninformed opinion on everything though. It makes for comical reading.

I'm also not sure where the "Bonus" comes from with Kane and Toews because they are no longer in their rookie contract there are NO bonuses. They make 6.3 per year no matter if we win the Cup or not. Another reason anything with the fourth period be taken more as a joke than anything else.

Man I wish you would think before you speak.

As RK said, Seabs already makes that much, so he doesn't get a raise at all? and B.)

09-10 39 games 6 goals 10 assists, 16 points +5 28 PIM

10-11 38 games 7 goals 11 assists 18 points +4 28 PIM

Yeah, he was great last year, but he's off this year.

As for Bolland again fluff doesn't know what the **** he's talking about. He wasn't healthy last year nor at the start of this. While slightly over paid last night showed exactly what he's made of. He could have had four goals, was all over the ice, and was in the face of the Avs all night.

Now he must stay healthy. In the playoffs he was healthy, and a thorn for the Sedins, Thornton, Heatly, Richards and Carter and fluff was right a HUGE key to the Cup run. This year he started off un healthy again and is now getting into form. If you trade a CENTER you must get a CENTER in return. One as good if not better than the one you are trading. You don't TRADE a CENTER wihtout getting a CENTER because we have absolutely NO DEPTH at Center PERIOD. None.

I'd be shocked if Seabs or Bolland was traded. Just posted the link so people could read it.
