2010-2011 Blackhawk Rumors/Transactions

I agree. I don't think they need a big splash. I think they need to play a pysical 60 minute game night in and night out. If they did that their record would be at least 10pts better. They have been blown out once that I can remember all year. Most games they had a chance and many should have won.

Holding a lead has been a big problem with them. Even early leads.

When they trail it's almost as if they play like they have the foot on their necks.

Interesting choice of photo in that article.

Of all the players on this team #7 seems to be the one who would want to be here the most from listening to him speak the past couple of years.

Since we are getting close to the trade deadline, I think this thread should probably start heating up.

So I'll put in my two cents for what I think the Hawks should do (Warning, there is a buttload of speculation and opinion up ahead, I'm not trying to guess what the Hawks will do, I'm just saying what I would do):

- I hope the Hawks seriously consider bringing back Sopel. I shouldn't even need to explain myself on that one. Apparently, he might be available, but I'm not sure I buy that rumor if ATL does want to make an impact in the Playoffs.

-Don't trade Seabrook. Campbell can go for the right price, preferably someone with a shorter contract but has to have a defenseman coming back as well -- this would have to be a unique situation, there aren't many players that fit the mold.

-And that brings me to suggest this, see if Toronto is interested in Campbell and see if you can pry Kaberle from them. This is obviously a huge reach, and there is no basis around this, I just think if you can make that work then its worth exploring. Probably one of the very few scenarios that I would trade Campbell.

-If neither of those options are available, at least find someone that can play so Boynton never has to play again. IMO a defenseman is top priority this deadline, if they can't land one I'll be disappointed. It doesn't have to be a superstar either, a Sopel type would be great though.

-Leave the offense alone. Unless you can get Sami Pahlsson, John Madden, or someone else who can win a lot of faceoffs and take the pressure off Johnny on each important draw. Of course both those players are also pretty damn good defensively, which is probably the only type of forward I would want.

Remember Sopel is 2.2 mil or something like that. Hawks have 400k in cap space.

Campbell has a NTC and only like 10 teams he'll even agree to with a trade. And right now he's probably this teams best defenseman. + 24...

I don't see the Hawks doing much as most will want Seabrook and I just don't think they can go there and expect to make the playoffs. Yes he's that important.

Bolland is on Fire and a Center, he can't go.

All we have are 3rd and 4th liners available and to get anything substantial you'll have to give up ROSTER players because the "Farm" does not effect the Cap.

Hawks are in a tough place and should probably just play the season out. Losing any more SC Players, with so few left, could really back fire and **** this team.

I'm not sure I like the Versteeg rumors either... I forgot to add that. I'm not really sure he would solve any problem.

Sucks that we have next to no players with a decent size salary we can afford to give up. We have a lot of guys under a million to give up but yeah that wont help the cap much. I think we just suck it up and play out the season like RK said.

Next year we get some cap room and we can upgrade a few places.

That would be awesome if Sopel came back. Sopel loves Chicago, and I know he would love to come back. I diden't hear about him possibly being availible. That's a awesome thing to think about.

Apparently the Hawks are in talks with the Columbus about acquiring Steve Mason. I don't have a link.

That would be one of the dumbest moves they could make. Mason is a really good young goalie that gets zero help on defense put him on a defensive minded team like when he played for Hitchcock and he'd put up some crazy good numbers

WUT!? Sopel for Skille? At least Sopel would be an upgrade over fucking Boynton.

I'd love to see the Sarge back in our lineup blocking shots every night, but not at that price. I think Skille is going to be the odd man out this year when it comes to the trade deadline but they can do better than Sopel for Skille.

I'd rather see Stalberg go, but I don't see either of them fitting in ATL.

there is NO cap space for this rumor.

Skille is 500k. Sopel is 2.2 mil.

Sopel's hit is prorated though, not the full $2.2M.

ETA: Chris from 300 Level has the Hawks with $500K of room right now and has Sopel at an $800K hit at the deadline.

Still doesn't make it a legitimate rumor though.
