Everyone is making great points.

Doesn't seem to be worth making a trade just to squeak into the playoffs. They'll likely do that anyway.

I would have no problem trading Kopecky. He's having a great year and is likely going to want a raise next season. Even if he offers the Hawks a man-crush discount, he's still going to be overvalued. Hossa's pet rock isn't a must-sign.

The Hawks should have a decent amount of cap space to play with over the summer. I'd rather let the chips fall where they may, and re-tool in the offseason.

Personally...I'd like to see the Hawks move Hjarlmarsson and Stalberg.

Moving that 4.3mil combined can prob net a pretty good center and dman coming back. I think Leddy can pair with Campbell much like Hjarlmarsson did and improved when he first came up.

Hjarlmarsson doesnt hit anymore at all - he's on pace for 42 hits this year. If the Hawks could get a vet/shot blocker to fill that role in whatever deal and get another center.

Hjarlmarsson is just not having a good year. Softmore slump, being paid before his time, I don't know.

I pretty much agree with you on those two choices though. Leddy can fill in where Hjarlmarsson isn't playing. I had a feeling that 3.5 mil was just way to much to be paying a player than had not really proven much more that a great season on a great team.

Blackhawks willing to deal

11:01AM ET

Chicago Blackhawks

In seventh spot in the Western Conference, the Chicago Blackhawks may not wait too long before making a trade.

According to Tim Sassone of the Daily Herald, general manager Stan Bowman hinted it could be just a matter of days:

"We're not saying we're going to wait a month, if there's a deal to be made over the next two weeks," Bowman said. "Things start to pick up around now, and between now and the next four or five weeks is when it all happens."

If the Blackhawks are interested in a center and defenseman, as reported, we suggest Christopher Higgins and Bryan McCabe of the Florida Panthers. Assuming the Panthers don't make a charge up the standings in the next couple of weeks.

Ian White, also an unrestricted free agent, is another option. The Carolina Hurricanes are genuine playoff contenders, but White isn't as key to the success of the blue line as others - ie. Joni Pitkanen, Joe Corvo, Jamie McBain etc.

Sassone suggests Jack Skille, Viktor Stalberg and blueliner Nick Boynton could be up for grabs in return.

See and I just don't see Stahlberg, Skille and or Boynton bringing back much return. Maybe that's why Boynton was in the other day. There were some scouts from other teams on Tuesday night. Hmmm

Who the **** would want him?

The Hawks can't trade Hammer this season, can they? I thought that by matching SJ's offer the Hawks had to keep him for a year after.

But I would definitely move him before I even thought about moving Seabs.

I think if SJ got him....they couldnt trade him. Being the Hawks matched, they can.

-The team matches the offer sheet. When an offer sheet is signed, the player’s current (original) team is notified. The original team cannot negotiate a new contract under different terms or trade the player’s rights and has seven days to makes its decision; that team can keep the player under the terms of the offer sheet, or decline and let the player join the new team under those terms. In the former case, the player cannot be traded for one year.

Hmm. I read it the exact opposite way -- if the Hawks had declined to match and SJ had signed him, they could trade him. But in the "former" case, i.e, the Hawks kept Hammer under the terms of the offer sheet, he can't be traded for one year.

I did too. I thought Hammer was not tradable for a year due to the offer sheet and acceptance. I could always be wrong.

It protected the player from being signed then traded away from that team.

The No-Trade Clause

If the original team chooses to accept, or “match” the offer sheet, the player cannot be traded for one year

There have been scouts in the building on numerous occasions.

The Islanders have been reported to be scouting the Hawks as well. It could mean absolutely nothing.

The Hawks don't have much to offer unless they're going to go the way of draft picks, then waiving guys like Boynton and Scott.

Hawks have a shit load to offer. The problem is they have little Cap Space to add anyone to the big club.

Morin

Beach

Skille

Lalonde

Makarov

Olsen

They have a ton of "future" to ransom right now to win again. Unfortunately they have no room to add much unless they get rid of something off the big club.

Waiving Scott and Boynton, who would make his same salary in Rockford (one way contract) won't give you much. Especially if say a 2 mil player was coming back.

And I was told 11 clubs were inquiring about Seabs but yes it's ironic that there were multiple scouts there the other night and Boynton played after three weeks of scratches.

I understand that.

There just won't be any kind of splash come trade deadline time. If so, I think all of us will be stunned.

Stunned as in unhappy... The only two players which would get realistic NHL return right now, availabe would be Sharp and or Seabrook.

One leads the team in goals by far and the other leads the team in hits buy far. Both massive leaders in the locker room.

I don't see how either leaving would make the team any better right now. No matter the return. Espcially with 14 of 15 teams in the conference well within the hunt of the playoffs.

I hope Stan is not an idiot.

I think a Wiz/Pahlsson trade is the splash you're going to see, if any. It's not as if this season fails, that the team needs a ton to retool.
