If they trade Kris Bryant for anything less than an organization's own Top 5 prospect they should be shot. Even that is bad value.

I tend to agree. At the same time, if they got like 2 guys of a teams #5-10 prospects, and a top 25 guy…I’d be okay with that approach too

a lot of it also depends on where the prospects are in their development. The return for chafin was a 26 year old. He’s basically major league ready. That fits the cubs desire to retool and not complete rebuild

No complaints about the return for Chafin (even before we know the 2nd guy).

It's a "Top 10" from the A's, but before people get too crazy, just remember he's a 26 year old in AAA. And the best prospects don't usually play in AAA these days. Not for long, anyway.

But for a one year signing of a middle reliever? No complaints.

Chafin was a fun guy to root for.

I believe chafin has an option for next year so isn't a pure rental, but seems to be a good return for him

Bring that stache back in the offseason! Lord knows cubs will have plenty of cap space

Quality over quantity. We can't play two mediocre guys at the same position. Get quality.

oh I agree. I’m just saying if the best offer they get happens to not be that, it’s still worth pulling the trigger. Ultimately, I think KB lands a top 5 prospect from someone’s farm.

Once we trade off everyone and tank the season what's the best pick we can get in the draft next year? I was looking today and it looks like 9-10 likely, but I'm hoping they can manage to get to 5-6 range somehow

Deichmann appears ready for the Big Leagues. Lets see what he has.

I'm not complaining about that return for Chafin.

Which OF spot does he play?
I guess regardless, I’m ready to take a look.

I always thought that Chafin was what Andy Reid looked like if he ever played baseball.

Tools are projected average or below except raw power. For what we gave up, I wouldn't expect more than that. We'll see what he can do.

Apparently good splits, and we won't see him against lefties.
