well Supra Boston just won the Cup and were bounced in the first round just like the Hawks last year. They unlike the Hawks did not have a huge cap mess to overcome.

I agree with you, just pointing out the fact that in this era, back to back Championships will be near impossible. Too much parity in the league, which is what they wanted after the lock out.

I get what you are saying and I know back to back was long odds but we have one of the best cores in the league. And the hawks haven't recaptured that "X factor" from the cup year. You knew that they were the team to beat. Sure the roster was stacked but it was something else. They played hard most nights. I remember a shutout the sharks put on us and we dominated the sharks, the goalie (Nabby) just stole it for them. Much like Game 6 against the Yotes

I just breaks my heart that this team was so good and now seems so mediocre. Maybe that is the reality of the cap era, just depressing

Nope, it's the reality of the McPimp/Bowman era.

The thing that bothers me is they are 2-3 pieces away from being elite again. Really they were five games different than the best record in hockey this year.

Things are not as bleak team wise, but they need to make the correct moves. They ran into a HOT goalie.

Same here. With the core we have, I thought they'd be strong contenders for years.

They ran into a stifling defense and refused to sit in the slot and complicate matters with the PHO 'sticks in the lane'.

As for Josh and this whole "it was McDick's fault that Mora got fired", Josh says himself that McDick sincerely told him that they didn't call for his head. If Josh was not being sarcastic, I think he is a fucking fool and got played more than he will ever know. McDick is a lying snake and would never have the balls to tell the guy to his face that he fucked up by crossing him and not letting McDick and his own people release the story ala big press conference fashion.

"My supervisor threw me under the bus" is naive considering the kind of dark and vast power we have seen McDick wield.

I think you are reading too much into his comments. Of course he took the high road. Knowing Josh, his running with that story was in fact the reason he was first demoted, then let go. Josh knows exactly why he was removed from the Hawks beat. Whether he would admit that publicly, I'm not sure I would either Pete. There is a saying about breaking bridges, and you NEVER want to break them. No matter the circumstances.

I think they ran into a team owned by the NHL, Officiated by the NHL, and then with a very good defense and an unreal goalie. All of those factors along with the 1-21 PP cost them the series. In a series where had the Stars played like stars, they should have won.

Does not mean the future is not bright for this team. Although they need to do the right things, and from the presser yesterday, I for one am not confident they know what those things are.

Detracts nothing away from Mcdonough being a tool in any way, shape, or form.

I did read his version of the events with his chat with McDick. I am not going to guess at what he meant. I can only hope he was being sarcastic, because (again) if he wasn't than Josh is a dope for believing that snake oil salesman.

If I am reading a factual rehashing of events, I don't need literary artistry or to be placed in a position of "how do you interpret what I wrote?". That's a real chickshit way to...well...not burn a bridge. I favor truth, and usually the truth hurts.

I agree with a lot of that. But few people have highlighted the overwhelming team D that they employ. Mike Smith did not stop ~50 shots a game. The team D AND Mike Smith stopped those shots.

Our shit ass PP is all about Kitchen being a total failure of a coach and the staff's desire to have Sharp on the left point, which to me is S-T-U-P-I-D. Put two Dmen out there or play a real umbrella, not a whatever the hell Kitchen came up with.

If it effects your career in any way shape or form you don't blow the bridge. Well unless your an idiot, then you blow the bridge. Truth or not.

Not saying you are an idiot more in general.

I don't think the info is lost either. I just don't think a lot of us are willing to expand on it.

I mean the written response to the blog. Josh said he doesn't have it. The info it contained isn't lost at all. Why bother expanding on it? People didn't listen the first time.

Yea Stan says that Kane's our #2 center.....I'm sorry but thats just fucking either sheer stubbornness of incompetence. THIS TEAM WILL NOT WIN A CUP WITH KANE AT CENTER. That is all.

i'd say he wasnt himself last year cuz of the hangover and needing srgery then this year was a bounceback. Idnd't play as bad as last year lets just keep healthy and ready for next.

also, Stan is shrewd, i dont think he thinks Kane is our #2 if he can help it.

Come on now RK, we could afford 3 millions for Frolik, possibly the biggest waste of money SINCE Huet. We could afford 3.75 for Montador, another big disappointment, (and I was a big supporter of the move.) We could afford a whopping 3.75 for Oduya who turned out to be the best move he's made, at least for the regular season. And for my last "we could afford", we were paying Brunnette 2 million.

Thats a ton of money right there in just 4 players and I'm only looking at one quality player in Oduya, who subsequently played awful in our 6 game series.

If Frolik was on a team where he could be a top 6 forward. He makes 2.3 million a season, hardly a huge hit cap wise. I guarantee it. The fact he was banished to the 4th line with spot duty on the PK and the fact he wasn't given a lot of time to bust out of his slump hurt him. Interesting how when Hossa went down and he was given some good minutes he almost had a point per game and at times was our best forward on the ice in the playoffs.

It would not surprise me to see the Hawks unload him this offseason which is a shame because we couldn't get him ice time on this team to get things clicking. Only 23 years old too.

Both. PHX played that game plan to a "T" and did not deviate. The 'Hawks were able to generate chances and not finish. Such is playoff hockey...Oh and lack of a PP was a strong killer for the 'Hawks as well.

Could you imagine of the 'Hawks played Philly in round one and played the way they did? I think they would have swept them with how bad the goaltending was in that series and how loosey goosey Philly played.

I'm not a Frolik hater, but after his performance in the playoffs, if you are going to trade him now is the time. Maybe Florida will take him?
