I figured as much... and that's fine. I just wish there was a good 1-yr rental out there to pick up for any potential runs down the stretch.

I would be all of this so Ben Smith can play, but honestly...where the hell is he going to play? First two lines are locked. I would be fine with him replacing Bickell on the third, but that's about it. If he is going to play 4th line minutes, I'd rather he stay in Rockford.

is it just me or isn't he like Kruger in that his hockey smarts and skillset combo can overcome limited "4th line minutes"?

anytime in the NHL is good for Ben Smith. Even on the 4th line he can definitely make plays and be a good solid player. Am i wrong?

shit i doubt he even will play on the 4th line cuz i like Bickell working hard with Mayers and Kruger while he takes the sophomore bumps as he slumps on the 3rd line right now.

Right now I'd be surprised if Frolik plays after hitting the boards like that last night. He never returned.

even if he "overcomes" the 4th line minutes, if there isn't room, there isn't room. Unless like Ron said, Frolik is hurt.

Bolland has shown that he has "earned" second line center status, but he has never been put there because his name isn't Toews or Sharp/Kane so he stays on the third, dispite the fact that he would be second line center on most teams.

Agreed 100%... put Kruger with some real line-mates and he'll produce. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for this kid. He's going to be a heck of a player.

Ben was not in Rockford last night.

Salak got pulled in the third last night and the Hogs had their best third period of the season. Down 4-1 to 2nd place team in West, they load up three goals only to lost at the end 5-4. Great period and sure to be a confidence boost to the Hogs and they need it. Off to a very slow start this season.

If Bolland can be my third line center it makes this team much more dangerous.

One of the greatest Hawk teams ever had a young Troy Murray as the third line center for a couple seasons before elevating his game to elite status.

Besides, the way Q coaches in the playoffs I don't know if he even considers 1,2,3 lines. He moves players around to fit the matchup.

Let's just go with "the way Q coaches". Preseason, Regular Season, Playoffs, he's consistent in all of them.

Welcome back too Mom!

And I fully agree with the place you've put Bolland. That's his role and he knows it.

Salak has struggled so far. His meltdown in Peoria last Friday night was one for the ages. After getting hosed by the official with a 2 goal lead, Peoria scored both 6 on 3 and then 6 on 4 to tie the game eventually losing in OT. Salak was so angry at the official he through his stick at him; drawing a misconduct. Not to be outdone Coach Dent followed suit to earn himself a misconduct.

Just think now you will have Olezs to carry the team!

Niemi struggled too. Lost his starting job to Crawford. Salak will need time to grasp the NA Game.

Salak has played in NA though.

And Crawford was/is better than Niemi, that's why. Had they had the same cap hit in 2010, Crawford would have been the Stanley Cup winning goalie.

Gonna spitball and cover the variety of subjects in this thread.

John Scott - He shouldn't be allowed on defense, he blew a few plays last night. I like him as a 4th line forward, I have no complaints with him playing as a forward on the 4th line. On defense he scares the shit out of me.

As for xbox GMing - What do you think about getting iggy for the rest of the season, his cap is 7 mil so he might be too expensive but this is the last year of his contract and Iggy isn't staying with the flames, he wants his name on the cup.

Randomness - Hammer has been forgettable this season, it really seems like his progress hit a brick wall last season and is still stalled. Do the hawks shop him around and see what offers are made for him?
