It really could go either way since Theo and Jed aren't actually saying what they plan to do

That's my point. They are saying that they aren't going to trade him. Which makes me think a trade is very close to happening.

:obama:

You really have no clue how this shit works do you with Theo and Co. They might trade Garza, they might not. It has nothing to do with anything being said in public and trying to read the tea leaves is dumb.

You're just hoping he is and looking for any convoluted way to think that he will be.

There's virtually nothing the Cubs could say to make you think he wouldn't be traded:

We aren't trading Garza: Theo and Co are being coy.

We are trading Garza: ZOMG! We are trading Garza!

so you expect them to say yes we are trading him??

That would kill his value

you are such a idiot

I'm not saying this at all. I'm saying that them being overly vocal about it leads me to believe that he'll be traded. Yeah, they are just gonna say "HEY WHO WANTS GARZA?!"

Okay, but what does Garza being on this team this year do for us? Nothing. He's likely going to get traded. It doesn't take a moron to see that.

Now look at what happened with the Rizzo situation. They were saying that they were perfectly fine with LaHair at 1st. Then they get Rizzo. Hmm....

You're absolutely correct they can't say anything because look at the team. We're awful. Garza is a good SP and he's pretty much the only good one available.

It's likely that they're going to listen to offers to Garza but they're not going to telegraph it to the world

They also never set a timetable for when they need to complete a trade by, if they even want to go through with it. I know people want news right the **** now, but everything in the media and everything in this thread is pure speculation at this point.

Now watch Garza get traded tomorrow :D

Not the point of what you said.

Not the point.

What were they going to do? Shit on LaHair publicly when asked? Lulz.

You have no clue how this shit works and are just hearing what you want to hear.

Yeah, I'll believe when Garza is getting traded when Hoyer and Theo give him a Cleveland Steamer on the Dan Ryan.

ZOMG. Hoyer gave Garza a handjob at dinner....he MUST be trading him.

Well the list of teams dealing for Garza is getting smaller. The Yankees have flipped Jesus Montero for Michael Pineda. It is possible that this would put some pressure on the Jays to counter, but we lose the leverage of making the Jays keep Garza from going to the Yankees.

It makes a lot more sense to wait until the deadline to trade Garza (if that indeed is the plan). Teams could suffer injuries or want to make a push for a postseason spot and his relatively light salary coupled with his ability to be retained until 2014 makes him attractive if a smaller market team wants to come into play for him.

I still think ultimately Garza ends up back in the AL. Detroit, Toronto, Texas and Boston will all be in play for him. All of those teams have nice prospects who'd be good to get in return.

He won't talk about it, though... So ... there may be something, but we just don't know.

Also, Cub beat writers have been very bad this Winter.

That's because Theo and Co are very tight lipped.
