I hope we can get an agreement with him. I like Garza and he would be a good guy at the top of our rotation for the next several years.

He's gunna have to take a deal with no NTC ... Cubs don't want to give out NTC's. That could be one of the biggest holdups now.

Im assuming it be like a Danks thing. Where he get NTC for like first 2 years then he loses it in 3rd year

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Minnesota United FC
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Ricketts is still cheap.

Yeah Levine said we could look at a Danks extension (not the NTC, but the dollar amount). Where Danks received 5 years and 65 million. If that's the case, I'm all for it and hope a deal gets done.

An extension looks likely now, forget about the Tigers (for now at least).

I dont want a prospect who velocity has gone down at end of last year then comes to camp with dead arm already. Sign him up.

If the Cubs can sign Garza to a 5 year contract worth 75-80 million, get it done.

I really wanted Jacob Turner in a deal for Garza, but bnot with his latest injury. An extensions looks better than what the Cubs can receive in a deal.

Unless it's Jacob Turner, Andrew Oliver and Tyler Collins from the Tigers :cubs:

I'm just worry about Turner and he would have been the main piece. The Cubs would have to do their work on his medical records to make a deal.

MLBTR:

Cubs GM Jed Hoyer told ESPN's Jim Bowden that he wants to sign Matt Garza long-term and build around the right-hander rather than trade him (Twitter link).

Trade candidate: Ryan Dempster

At some point MLBTR will put out a blurb on Dempster, assuming they haven't already and I missed it. For the time being, I wonder what he'd be worth around July (assuming he waives the NTC) and what we can expect back.

So questions...

1. Potential trade partners
2. What those trade partners would be willing to part with that Cubs could use
3. ???
4. Profit!
