This 9.5mm contract is soooo sexy to other teams at the trade deadline. He's going to be NICE trade bait. Could get a couple top prospect offers from several teams in July!

Shut the **** up and get on your knees.

We aren't claiming the prospects out gong to be better... but by the time we are world series contenders Garza will be way past his prime and these prospects will just be getting there. This isn't fucking hard to understand.

The Cubs are keeping Garza. Cubs can be contenders in three years especially if they get Soler. So that puts Garza at 31 not bad.

Doubt it, but if Hoyer does that, then fine.

Hopefully the cubs will have a new ace in three years but still Garza in his early 30s being like a 3 guy in the rotation isnt a bad idea

And you gotta remember. if the cubs are building by drafting and prospects. Then when they make it to the playoffs it will be the first time for a lot of guys. It would be good to have Garza in the rotation since he has already been to the WS

Right now, I do see the Cubs signing Garza to extension... However, if the Tigers become desperate and come to the Cubs with a package around Jaob Turner and/or NicK C, 2 top prospects ... he'll be traded.

Also, Garza is looking forward to playing with the kids and that's what you want in a player. He did it with the rays and knows anything can happen.

2013 rotation:
1) Garza/FA pitcher/trade
2) Garza/FA pitcher/trade
3) Paul Maholm
4) Travis Wood
5) Chris Volstad

I see a rebound year from Wood and Volstad. The Cubs will pick up Maholm's option and Dempster will be traded at deadline or the Cubs will let him walk free agency (if he doesn't take a home town discount).

That doesn't look too bad. I have a feeling Wells will be traded at sometime too. I've seen reports of the Cubs going after Hamels (but I wouldn't at his price ... his price is already said to be out there; he's looking at Johan Santana money).

I could see the Cubs going after Matt Cain. And theres a lot more other free agent pitchers. i think the Cubs will add another big pitcher next year

I was gunna say him, but it sounds like the number 1 and 2 priority for the Giants is to lock up Tim and Matt, so I don't see him becoming a free agent. The best pitcher, I think, that will hit free agency is Cole Hamlels.

If Cain does hit free agency, he should be one of the Cubs top priorities to sign.

I can see Grienke itting free agency, he did want a trade earlier in the off-season but I don't know where he stands now. I thought I read that the Phills would like to lock up Hamels. But I think he'll hit free agency.

I think Marcum will stay in Milwaukee. Sanchez is a tough one, but I bet he stays in Miami too.

But again if contract negotiations don't go good, any of these players will hit free agency.
