have you ever played on a team?? You just cant have guys like Z on your team and win. Dude is a ticking time bomb never know when he will blow up and quit on the team like last year. I dont care if he wins the Cy Young with the Marlins getting that guy off the team was a must.

He certainly has cursed Miami

The problem was that even if Theo wanted to keep Z (and there's every indication that he did) the entire team basically said "no" and no matter how much a guy can help a team, you can't piss off the other 24 guys in the clubhouse by saying that their opinions, especially such a strong opinion, doesn't matter. Sucks for Z and us, but the alternative was to say "Hmmm, we're not getting any other trade offers, and there's no way Z declines a $12MM qualifying offer for the next offseason so we can get a draft pick back, so I guess we'll just have to deal with Chris Volstad."

Could you imagine what Z would say about this team? Call them little leaguers maybe?

He hasn't punched his catcher yet or threw a water cooler and cried like a 3 yr old in the dugout yet and walked out on his team. He needed a change of scenery because he had burned every bridge he had in Chicago.

It sucks that if he is dealt it wont be until the deadline. We need a starter like now.

I wouldn't mind a move that included a young bullpen arm the Sox have in the system, but if it just pieces in their minor leagues I think we will be pretty disappointed in the return.

its a tough call. Im really not sure what a FA Starter is going to net for anyone.

I agree, but your guys prospects are pretty damn terrible. Guys in your top 10 wouldn't even be in the top 20 of a deep system like Toronto. It will be interesting to see what the market is like this year because there are a lot of different factors at play now. Guys not being eligible for compensation should drive down the value, but at the same time you have a second wildcard which will probably decrease supply of players available at the trade deadline. We will have to see, but that said getting a couple of prospects from the White Sox is going to be a pretty depressing return on a player that is actually producing.

I could see Nate Jones and a Jordan Danks for Dempster. I could see Quintana (sp) in on that deal too

I was honestly going to say that I would be happy with Nate Jones and Nestor Molina as a deal for Dempster.

I just think that honestly any move that isn't a salary dump by the opposing team is going to involve Nate Jones. At least that is who I would be asking for in any deal. Well after I get told no to Addison Reed that is.

its also a bit skewed since many of our picks come up pretty quick. sale, reed, jones, beckham, the cuban signings. Sure we could have left all those guys down there and had a better farm system ranking but id rather have them up here.

I dont care about the farm as long as there is something (and even the worst farm systems have something) that can be used in a trade.

That is fine, but that is my point that a top 10 in the Sox system right now is no where near a top 10 prospect even in the Cubs system which is far from elite.

I think Reed was the reason santos was dealt. KW knew he struck gold with a ss converted closer and wanted to move him before he imploded and i sure his scouts were in his ear about reed. I actually like reed more than most of the closers except thigpen that the sox have had.

Very well could have been. As I've said right now I would be happy trading Dempster for Jones and the guy you got for that converted SS closer. Later in the season might change if Dempster is still sporting an ERA around 2, and teams like Boston and New York get back into the race.

I can't give up Molina on the deal unless the Cubs are covering the salary of Dempster. Even then I would have to think about it.
