One better. Soriano garza and Dempster and you get a shinny nickel. ;)

I wouldn't take a single player for Sale. Probably not any two players for Sale
And that is why Matt Garza won't be pitching on the Southside anytime soon. There is no combination of 3 prospects in the White Sox system that is close to what Matt Garza is worth by himself, and as far Dempster goes every other team that is interested has more to offer in terms of prospects. Does that mean that Dempster won't be pitching on the Southside? I wouldn't rule it out because Dempster can steer the trade to whatever team he wants, but that is probably what it would take for it to happen.

Humber and Floyd prevent you from bringing up prospects too early
The Cubs have tons of options to take the ball every fifth day and put up an ERA over 5 in their system already with Volstad, Wells, Coleman, Rusin, etc. The Cubs aren't going to have to rush anyone to the majors fill out the rotation. Do Humber and Floyd represent marginal upgrades over those options? Of course, but those marginal improvements are worth jack squat in a year that this team is vying for a 1st overall draft pick.

As happy as the Cubs would be to find a taker for Soriano's contract, they have yet to show that they are willing to trade something of value from their team to make a player go away. They are far more likely to eat 95% of the deal and send him to Baltimore than lose one of their most valuable trade chips to be done with him.

Why do a deal with the Sox? An ideal trade partner would be a stocked AL team like Baltimore.

Toronto is probably the most ideal trade candidate. Their system is incredibly deep. Baltimore would be awesome if Dylan Bundy was available, but that is as likely as the Cubs finding a taker that was willing to pay all of Soriano's contract.

We are. A couple of our a specs for all of sori Dempster and garza. I think they'd be really tempted to take it

Tempted perhaps, but that type of deal would run counter to everything Theo has been preaching. He has stated that his goal is to get talent in the system. Dealing one of his most valuable trade chip to be rid of a contract is the exact option of that plan. I think the Cubs are far more likely to ride out the bad paper than trade away talent to be rid of it.

For the sox who play in a launching pad in the AL I would never trade any crazy amount of specs even if we did have them for matt garza.

If I were the GM and the cubs came up to me and said il give you demp and garza for sale......id say......pass.

I do find it amusing that some posters dont think the sox have enough for demp.

I also like how people have fallen in love with "farm systemz and stuffz" and all of a sudden the cubs fans have this notion in their head that they have this great farm system.....umm....no. Wait until rizzo comes up, another drop in the rankings. Theo Epstein NOT a (insert lame theoism here crap) has his work cut out for him. the 5 year plan? he better hit on all prospects.

Here it is: The Sox do have enought for Dempster IF they were the only team after him. But they're now and there will be better offers elsewhere no doubt. So, all in all the Sox do have enough for Dempster, but will lose out on him to a better offer.

Like I've said numerous times, I think Dempster will be traded to the Dodgers and that could be very soon.

Not if Dempster really says he wants Chicago. So even though basically every team can top the White Sox, the Sox just might be the favs

Toronto may be a long shot if the Jays keep falling in the standings. Plus Anthopoulos isn't exactly dumb. He's likely to know how stark the odds are and hold on to his prospects instead of getting trade-screwed by Theo and company.

He is a really underrated GM for what he has managed to do with the resources he has in that division. I doubt the Blue Jays would go nuts to stay in it, but this is the closest they've been in a long time. Odds are certainly getting lower as they continue to fall. Baltimore, NY, Detroit are the most likely trade partners for the Cubs it seems.

That wont happen cause they are called propsects. Each draft teams are happy if they get 2-3 MLB type of players

Talked to folks before BOS-CHC today, and they are convinced the contentious Theo Comp talks won't be impediment in any Garza/Dempster talks.

Middlebrooks and what else would Cubs like?
