Time to stop with this silliness of every team giving up top or near top prospects for #2/3 pitchers at best.

I think you can expect a couple of top 75-100 prospects back for Garza, or maybe just one top 51-75 prospect. I don't think you'll get Middlebrooks and it's therefore unlikely that the Cubs trade Garza to Boston.

Dempster, you'd probably expect less back.

Lmao. Thats the point. Not many #2/3 starters are on the market. Most teams keep there guys that are under 30 and that good. So when they do become avaible yes teams do give up top prospects for them. There called prospects for a reason.

Prospects = havent proved shit

dempster, who's at his peak value, is definitely worth a couple of prospects...

I dont think BOS gives up Middlebrooks either and thats why they wont get Garza. Now i assume they could get Demp without Middlebrooks

I dont think he was talking about Demp. More of Garza.

Demp wont net top prospects cause of his age. But he will get back 2 young potential specs

Garza's a #2...he's attractive partly because of the fact that alot of #2s at his age are not available...i think

hmmm...you sure?

i guess..i need to pay better attention to baseball this season

Dempster's 35, the other team won't be able to use him to get a Type A compensation, and his salary is pretty hefty still. So that will suppress the return.

That assumes that the Cubs can't find a patsy.

Now that teams cant get comp from guys they traded for they will be wanting to give up less. I be shocked if they get a top 100 spec for him. I do think they get 2-3 young specs that have potential to get into the top 100 in the next 1-3 yrs

Rosenthal just said on Fox that Cubs will pay all of contract if that means they get even better specs. That doesnt surprise me way Ricketts has proved he will buy out contracts to help the future

The least likely landing spot IMO from the teams discussed here and other places is toronto. Their rotation is shot right now and they are falling. I doubt Toronto takes a chance on giving up specs for a very very slim shot at making the playoffs.

The Cubs are shopping starter Ryan Dempster to multiple teams, including the Dodgers. Chicago is willing to include significant amounts of cash in any trade in hopes of landing better prospects. Dempster has 10-and-5 rights, however, and thus can veto any deal, although he's willing to move to a contender.

From MLBTR. I agree that once Toronto crashed they took themselves out of the running for buying.

Better then what I had been doing before... it was basically just a nudge saying "Ya, your opinion must have changed on Ricketts, huh?"... but I was too lazy to write that out.
