What Waldo said:

Matt Garza's most recent start was watched by Braves' top advance scout Jim Fregosi, according to ESPN Chicago's Bruce Levine. "Six or seven other teams" besides Atlanta are also interested in Garza.

Nick Cafardo update on MLBTraderumors about Garza
•About six teams have been in contact with the Cubs consistently regarding Matt Garza: the Braves, Tigers, Cardinals, Red Sox, Jays, and Royals. Epstein is looking for a great package to part with Garza as he is the club's biggest chip. However, teams have some concern over whether the pitcher can control his emotions.
First time I have heard emotions being used as a concern for trading for Garza. Probably a lot of it is posturing, but it is interesting to note.

Just adding fuel to the fire, but Matt Harrison left the Rangers game with a back injury tonight.

Interesting thought as a possible suitor for Garza that isn't talked about:

MLBTradeNews
Don't be surprised if #Royals make a blockbuster trade for a very good pitcher, year away from competing could use one. #Royals #MLB
Not that most reliable source, but like I said an interesting thought that makes some sense.

Unfortunately the Royals lack pitching that is close as far as my recollection of their system goes. I want to say they're position player heavy like the Cubs, with better prospects as far as I recall.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  2. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Chicago State Cougars
  2. DePaul Blue Demons
  3. Illinois-Chicago Flames
  4. Loyola Ramblers
  5. Northern Illinois Huskies
  6. Northwestern Wildcats
I would be tempted to do Garza for Starling straight up... but OF isn't really a need (I know that you normally don't trade for a need with prospects, focusing more on who has the most potential, but...)

If you are going to aim big, why not shoot for Will Myers? :cubstroll:

Rangers were mentioned as a possibility to jump into the Garza discussions with the injuries they've been having. Goldstein is tweeting that the Rangers are calling up their top pitching prospect Martin Perez. It will be interesting to keep an eye on because if he struggles perhaps the Rangers might get involved in the Garza sweepstakes.

•One American League executive says the Cubs are basing their asking price for Matt Garza on last summer’s Ubaldo Jimenez deal. This means it’ll take two controllable, young players with upside to pry the right-hander away from Jed Hoyer and Theo Epstein.

I want 2 young players +

not for demp

2 weeks ago i would have said they did

But now Teams will want to see him pitch 2-3 times off DL before a deal gets done. So if he struggles at all after DL stint his value going to drop

I'll gladly give up what we will to get a better return.. and from what it sounds like.. That's what we'll be doing.

for garza. i dont know how the cubs can improve their mediocre farm when they have no one really outside of garza with value. id much rather have a bad farm with a handful of pieces and focus on established proven players via fa and trade.
