At what point does Rose overtake Pippen?

Is D-Rose the #2 player in the Chicago Bulls Franchise?

Pippen was easily the best defender on the team in 1995. He was the best perimeter defender in the entire league and probably the most versatile defender too. But I highly disagree with the assertion that the Bulls were the 2nd best defensive team in the league in 1994-95. They were up there but they weren't as good as the Rockets, Knicks, or Spurs... maybe others... Rebounding was the main problem for that team.

You are probabely right about the 94-95 not being the 2nd best defensive team..But I think S****** P***** as an individual was probabely the best defender as a player that season...After losing Cartwright, Pax, Scott Williams and our best power forward in Grant in the summer of 94, S****** P***** had know choice but to lead the team in every major catagory in the 95 season...When Jordan returend at the end of the season they probabely improved as a whole.............As far as the 93-94 season, they definately were the 2nd best defensive team in the league right behind the Knicks...

P.S, I really hated Larry Krastoviac as Grants replacement....Did I spell his name right??? I don't think I did......

Id tend to agree that they weren't the best or 2nd best defensive team. But it does show that pippen could anchor a top ranked defense like a center. Cuz it wasn't longley, or wennington, or perdue, or harper. Combine this with pippen league leading defensive rating, him leading the league in steals, and making all defense 1st team, shows how great of a defender he was.

Pippen should have been defensive player of the year in 1995. He got robbed. The voters fall in love with a center's rebounding and blocks, but don't take into account Pippen's ability to take a charge - which he was one of the best at.

Just as good as a block, if not better, since that charge guarantees you get the ball back, unlike a block that can go right back into the shooters hands.

I love that my topic has turned into a nice long thread ha ha ha. :smug2:

Hey SP94. Here's a few quotes from chuck daly with regards to scottie pippen and the 92 dream team.

He called him "the ultimate fill in the blanks guy".

Also in an interview with sam smith, he said "I know michaels the best player, but scotties the best player on this team".

Just for those that don't know, that dream team had jordan, malone, barkley, robinson, ewing, stockton, drexler bird, magic. I know I'm missing some players. But it shows how great pippen really was. And this comming from a highly respected coach in daly.
He believed pippen was the best player on the greatest team ever.

And this is relevant cuz it shows how much pippen could dominate in a matchup between the 2011 bulls and the 1994 bulls.

Eat this Rami

I don't think hell eat it. I think he's been on a diet ever since he found out that Lenny Wilkins called Scottie Pippen a "CATALYST" AND Grant Hill called him "The best all around player in the game"....LoL......Did I mention that Magic Johnson called him "A beutiful basketball player"?????

It shows nothing because Daly is dead and didn't see Derrick Rose...now which one of you will TRY to make a case for Pippen being better than Jordan/Bird/Magic??? I would love to see that...

Wanna go over some of Pip's quotes about certain players?

LOL, he trying to bring up Pip's quote about lebronze, never mind that he retracted that statement.

And no one is going to say that Pippen is better than Magic, Jordan and Bird. LOL, insecure much?

Getting all huffy for no good reason. How dare someone disagree with the all knowing, all mighty, omnipresent houheffna?

Get over yourself.

I referecened the daly quotes to show how dominant pippen was. I'm not implying that he's better than magic, jordan or bird. Hell magic and bird were past their primes when that team was formed. But I. Do think daly would choose pippen over barkley.

What Chuck Daly meant by that was Pippen was the most complete player. Not that he was actually greater.

I suppose Chuck Daly, by his standards, would call Andrei Kirilenko a "better player" than Ewing, Robinson, Barkley, and Malone as well.
