At what point does Rose overtake Pippen?

Is D-Rose the #2 player in the Chicago Bulls Franchise?

Well I personally think that is ridiculous because nobody can defend Rose one on one. Pippen would need to guard Rose at least three steps in front of him just in order to have a chance in HELL of meeting him in time to contest his shot at the rim. Rose would have the open shot all day long. But what is going to stop Rose from pounding the ball in the lane and send Pippen flying?? Rose sends gets like Roy Hibbert flying when Rose is fouled by THEM! Rose is too big, too strong, too fast, too good. Stacey King isn't lying. Master the "master of defense" can't do a damn thing to stop Rose one-on-one. It requires weak-side help.

Rami, Are you playing basketball?

I question anybody's basketball knowledge who thinks any one defender can shut down Rose one-on-one. And I mean anybody... Pippen, as great as he is, can't do a damn thing about Rose by himself.

It's one-on-one. That's what you seem to not grasp. The style of play is going to be extremely consistent and predictable. It's not like five-on-five.

i understand your point, no transition offense as well as no free space on the court for rose. in personal match-ups pippen is smart player and he knows how to defend against fast or slow players. he guarded bogues in some games, no problem

The combination of strength, speed, dribbling ability, and finishing ability is something Pippen has never quite seen before. D-Rose is not Tyrone Bogues. Rose has a quicker first step than even Jordan. The guy would fly right past Pippen if he crowded him.

Rose is like the perfect one-on-one player when it comes to offense because of his ability to attack and finish at the rim at will. Pippen is nowhere near that good. And it doesn't matter how good he is on defense because there is no one player that can stop Rose. It's a very simple concept to understand.

Pippen doesn't stand a chance against the dominating Rose..Rose would kill Pippen, Magic Johnson,, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Julius Irving, Hakeem Ollajuwon, Lebron James, KOBE bryant,John Stockton, And Derrick Rose would definately beat the hell out Jordan easily...As a matter of fact, why are we having this argument...Derrick Rose isn't the number 2 bull of all time..DERRICK rose is the number 1 Bull of all time....At least he will be in time...What, you guys don't like sarcasm??????????....But wait a minute, maybe it isn't impossible for Rose to become the best Bull in History.......I mean the guy is young and has done near as much as Jordan had done in his career at his age in the NBA....After All Rose has already lead a team to the eastern conferance finals in his 3erd season...Even Jordan didn't do that........Which brings my logicall genius thinking to theis...Rose said last season,"Why can't I be MVP??".....and he became MVP because he willed himself to be....Now if Rose was to say "Hey, Why cant I be the best Bull ever" why couldn't he will himself to actually do just that?????..I will admit that Rose definately possibley could pass Pippen up as the 2nd best Bull in History..So who's to say that Rose couldn't become the number 1 Bull in history some day???I know its a longshot, but its not impossible...This young man Derrick Rose has the potential to do anything he puts his mind to......After all, his Jersey is number 1.....By some miracle the bulls got Rose in the first place win we won the lottery...Maybe it all means somthing in the future prophecies of the Bulls.....I'm just sayin........**** it!!!!!..Its too early in Rose's carreer to make these comparrisons realistically...One thing for sure, skys the limit for Rose and I'm going to enjoy watching his career mold right before our eyes just like I did with Jordan and Pippen...That is of course if this dam lockout ever ends....Maybe when this lockout ends we can find somthing better to talk about than these dam comparrisons....On the real...

Every team has weak side help. Especially in the ECF. Lebron shut him down. Completely.

My point is it was not one on one. Rose was shut down with a secondary defender lagging off of him.

My point is that happens to every player who is any good. I hate Lebron. But the guy stopped Rose. Period. With help, so would Pippen.

I know that. My point is that in a game of one on one, nobody could stop Rose. James did an amazing job guarding him but if it wasn't for Miami's extra 2nd and 3rd guy watching/guarding him, it would have been impossible to stop him.

Of course. And 6'7 Pippen shoots over 6'1 Rose at will.

Its pretty simple. At age 22, Rose would destroy Pippen at age 22, because Pip lacked offensive skills. At age 27, im pretty sure Rose would beat Pip, based on projection. Its all about what age each player is, when the matchup happens. Just guessing, but in their primes, id wager on Rose.
