but they will compare him to offense in Defensemen around the league, not just on the team.
Seabs is projected to hit 44 points this year, now obviously who knows where that number ends up but lets just say he hits 44 points for the sake of argument... I'm just going to find some other players in similar situations that have re-signed recently:
Jack Johnson - 7 years | $30,500,000 total | $4,357,143 Cap Hit
Re-signed on 1/09/2011, 36 points last year, 38 points already this year on pace for 51.
Trevor Daley - 6 years | $19,800,000 total | $3,300,000 Cap Hit
Re-signed on 12/29/2010, career high 25 points, 22 points so far and on pace for 29 this year.
Mark Giordano - 5 years | $20,100,000 total | $4,020,000 Cap Hit
Re-signed on 10/29/2010, 30 points last year, 28 this year on pace for 36.
Zdeno Chara - 7 years | $45,500,000 total | 6,916,667 Cap Hit
Re-signed on 10/09/2010, obviously we all know what he is capable of.
Marc Staal - 5 years | $19,875,000 total | $3,975,000 Cap Hit
Re-signed 9/15/2010, 27 points last year, 23 points this year, on pace for 30.
Up to you to interpret that whichever way you want, but this is as recent as it gets when it comes to RFA's re-signing with their club. Looking at this list, I can't see Seabrook getting less than $4.5M. He has a bigger resume than guys like Staal and Johnson, hes better than Daley and Giordano, and definitely isn't on Charas level... so probably compile all those contracts and get an average there, Seabs is probably that number, which is $4.5M, ironically lol.
Looking at those players he might get anywhere between $4.5M-$5M.
