62% completion
3,800 yards
300 rush yards
16 TDs passing
5 TDs rushing
10 INTs
10 FUM

What do you guys think?
Lower the rushing yards to about 50-75. I don’t want him running unless it’s sideline to sideline looking to throw to our elite weapons.

I think he hits 4K passing.

I was on the "replace fields before last years draft" side.

The excuses were bullshit and the warts were undeniable and very common among qbs who fail to acclimate to the NFL.

A good qb, as in functional to decent backup quality, would have done a solid job here last year. Middle of the pack.

With the massive improvements made in this off-season so far, the expectation is very high.

If Williams is even in the ballpark of Trevor Lawrence as far as talent goes, I expect nothing less than 4000 plus yards, let's say 28 passing tds and 15 ints. That is my expectation for a top-middle teir player on a loaded team. Anything less in today's nfl would be dissapointing.

Hopefully Williams is more talented and a faster learner than Lawrence- more towards the Herbert or stroud end of the spectrum.

If he hits 4400 and 30 plus tds with less than 15 total turnovers, I would legitimately have reasonable hope that he could be a top 5 qb in the league.

595 attempts, 7.1 yards per attempt, 64% completion, 25 TDs, 10 ints is my hope so guess.

So if he's mix of NFL rookie record QBs you will legitimately have reason to hope he'll be mediocre to top 5 QB???

Rookie interception mistakes are perfectly acceptable. What you really want is for him to learn from those mistakes the 2nd year. What you absolutely do not want is for the coaching staff to play it safe and stunt his development by having him play timid and scared. That is what happened to Fields.

What Straud did last year only throwing like 5 interceptions as a rookie is amazing.

Here is what I hope happens.

- Starts every game with no serious injuries
- Plays with rhythm of the offense, ie understands the route concepts and when players are open and anticipates where they should be
- Learns from mistakes as the season goes on
- Plays well under pressure, ie game on the line when the other team knows you have to throw the ball

Whether he has 18 TD or 30 TD... 3,000 yards of 4,000 yards. That in the grand scheme of things does not matter. A lot of that is dependent on things like TOP, style of play, game situations ie playing with the lead on a team with a good defense or from behind on a team with a bad defense. What matters is why or how it happened.

That is my biggest fear and why I think these 4K predictions aren't going to happen. Bears won't allow that.

My hope is Waldron knows how to grow a legit QB and tells the McCaskey lackies they don't know diddly and to shut up.

What people forgot is that Williams is dangerous in the red zone for rushing touchdowns. In 3 years, he had 20 red zone rushing touchdowns. 20 red zone touchdowns. Insane. Just another thing defenses have to take account for.

Will the Bears have more passing or rushing touchdowns and a team?

But college football always has more QB runs.
It's too much of a risk in the NFL.

I hope Waldron isn't calling that and if they happen it's because the play breaks down.
With the 3 WRs and the way Williams is always looking to throw I don't see him going full Fields.

Oh I agree. But it’s still something a defense will have to respect.

Watch this tape, EVERYONE. He is making VERY smart moves. Is throwing it where only his WR can get it, a LOT of the time. A lot of smart plays on here.

His mobility is what made me OK with the idea of getting him. He could survive behind the '23 oline. Hopefully the changes mean he doesn't have to in '24.

He has a spectacular situation he is walking in to.

4k may be "historic" now, but 17 games and the changes in rules will make 5k the dividing line between good and great.

6 of the 9 qbs who played 17 games hit 4k plus.

3 of the 5 who started 16 games hit 4k plus.

Sam friggin Howell almost hit it. Geno Smith almost hit it despite missing 2+ games.

I know you are stuck in the stone age passing wise being a bears fan, but 235 a game, especially with the weapons in Chicago is cake.

If Williams plays all 17, he will hit over 4k.

Just win, baby. Don't care about his stats as long as his presence garners more points and wins.
