I feel McCarthy is a bit unfairly killed by public perception. I think the standard in Dallas makes it so that it's a failure if he doesn't win it all. But, that team isn't that great. Dak is an ok QB that McCarthy made into the highest paid QB, and player, in football. How many first round picks does that offense even have? 2nds? I think they're currently starting two undrafted linemen. There's this perception that the offense is high-powered (I know this was a down year), but it's really cause of what he's put together... He's a better winner than anyone in recent Bears history.

I get it's not a sexy pick, but I too probably have him on the list over the random unknowns. I think we need to have a solid floor with this new HC.
Good points. I also think he is known as that coach who had Aaron Rodgers and that’s why he succeeded. Truth is, he is a good offensive minded coach. He knows how to build an offense and call plays. His play designs are far better than what we have seen recently.

I do agree, he isn’t the sexy pick. He isnt the candidate who we will call the next McVay. But you know the offense as a unit will improve under him. That’s what the Bears need right now. Plus he has a ton of connections and I’d trust him finding a serviceable DC over someone like Vrabel finding an OC.

I still have Johnson as my top candidate and then Monken following him. Love what he did with Jackson in Baltimore.

My only thing would be with McCarthy is i'd like him to come in as the head coach but not the play caller and get a legit guy to be the OC for him. I don't think i'd hate him as the play caller but would rather him bring in his guy to do that. But he's an offensive guy, players love him and he would bring the leadership qualities needed as the HC.
I wouldn’t mind him as a play caller be it get wanting to keep him to his HCing duties. He has a lot of connections so i don’t think it would be hard for him to find someone. Plus is trust whoever he brought in as OC than any defensive minded coach they want to interview.

It's 100% the truth. Doesn't mean we don't have smart football people on here, just not anything close to these NFL/Football lifers that do this for a living.
Yep. And no one here is running the show for the best offense in football. My autistic 7 year old nephew is probably smarter than @Nads786.

I don't like McCarthy's scheme, tbh - or rather how he coaches his QBs in that scheme.

Mc Carthy matches up too well with the Mc Claskeys. They will fall in love with him because he can talk their talk. They will then push for his hiring, Warren will, of course, agree with his bosses. A weakened Poles will not have the juice to push back.

And if it goes down that road so be it. Could be a lot worse. Look at the list of coaches they requested to interview. McCarthy is a top 3-5 candidate on that list. He might even be able to bring over someone like Saleh as DC.

Yeah he's the kind of HC that wouldn't have a problem getting the better names out there to come coach with him. Now he won't get any of the top names for OC if he's calling plays but i think he'll find someone that can do the job.

I won't die on the hill defending him, but my only real point is that he's not as bad an option as most people seem to think he is. I know if he was hired, the fanbase would be devastated and he'd probably do really well in a lot of key areas for us. I don't know where I rank him exactly... but he's probably not in my top 3, but probably in my top 5.

He's Lovie Smith. Regular season will be entertaining, but expect to be a first or second round exit every year in the playoffs.

Is that what listening to NFL people for years have learnt you? That a 174-112 offensive coach that makes the playoffs in12 of 18 years as a HC and won a SB is the same as a 92-100 defensive coach that made the playoffs in 3 of 12 seasons?
