so is nearly all the other stuff you've tried proving..

I trust WHIP a hell of a lot more than FIP.

Not really...

You can use WHIP all you want in your fantasy league. But that's about all it is good for. We know that pitchers have little control over their BABIP, so why use a stat that uses hits? It's as simple as that.

Does that make sense to you too, Dewey?

ERA is waay more flawed than FIP, xFIP, or tERA bro.

What pitcher would you rather sign as a FA?

Player A: 200 IP 225 H 120 K 70 BB 25 HR 3.70 ERA (pitches for a good defense)
Player B: 200 IP 185 H 210 K 55 BB 15 HR 4.40 ERA (pitches for a bad defense)

Who would you rather sign? For me, player B for sure.

Wasn't really anything of a ERA defender anyways..

No crap you take player 2 :smug2:

Again and again, NOBODY knows for sure if that ball that was hit on every single situation was truly a hit or the defense. It is a good tool once again, but you need to also use other stats and other variables of the game to draw a conclusion on whether a pitcher is good, bad, amazing etc. By using FIP and FIP only you are telling me that Randy Wells is a good pitcher, when you take in account all other stats and variables the overall conclusion is that he is an average pitcher.

Are you really trying to say that WHIP is a good stat? Good lord, read something on the internet about it. It sucks.

Okay, so his ERA and WHIP, both are dependent on the defense say he is bad.... that's probably because he has a bad defense behind him.

No, the other stats say that he is above average. His K/9 is below league average, but so are his BB/9 and his HR/9. But it is okay that his K/9 is below league average, because his K/BB is above league average. His stats where defense don't factor in are good. His stats where defense do aren't good. What does that tell you? That the defense behind him isn't good!!!

It's not an excuse. It's a fact. The Cubs Defense sucked last year.

Yeah, you're right. We should go out and pay someone millions of dollars to do the same thing he is doing. What was I thinking?

Is it a coincidence everything went up for him? (outside K's)

Blaming defense for his sucky ass when him himself made 5 errors.

20-24 career record. STFU.

If Carl Pavano gives up nineteen runs in five innings but the Indians score 20 runs, and they hold on to win, and Pavano gets the win, is Pavano a good pitcher? No he is not. If Francisco Liriano throws 9 innings of no-hit ball, but gives up a run on four consecutive errors by Nick Punto and gets a loss, is Francisco Liriano a bad pitcher? No he is not.

So yeah, your point has no merit once soever.

There is more to defense than errors... :obama:

His numbers went up (if using raw stats) because he had more IPs. If you aren't, then just look at his BABIP. Oh and ummmm... his K numbers did go up....

They're just made up numbers.

Yea, a pitcher who puts up a 3.65 ERA/3.92 FIP/4.18 xFIP/4.38 tERA in his first 365 career innings is sooooo subpar.

you do realize that if I said that Randy Wells was a good pitcher you would say the opposite right? Just like mark kotsay was a better option in your opinion playing everyday than quentin at DH and jones in RF. come again.

  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
