Anyone talking about him starting fight and bashing the cubs. I would hate to hear how you feel about Zambrano.

Zambrano's good, there's a difference.

I've been down for getting rid of him for a few years. Over-paid, piss-poor attitude, can't handle pressure. He'd be fine at half his salary, but that's not where he's at.

Glad he is gone. Sucks having to pay that big contract but if the Cubs are going to give the kids a chance, might as well be this year.

They have to pay him even if they gave him a spot on the team anyway.

To be fair, we traded one for the the other, and got cash back in the deal.....

I had no problem w/the initial trade, was surprised anyone even bit. Seattle got the short end when Bradley stayed on the short bus.

I was fine w/ allowing him back, mainly b/c I was (and still am) hopeful that a team that REALLY needs a SP will trade us a prospect and a pot of coffee for him and 1/3 of his salary (yanks, plz?)...but needs to play to be desirable.

Cubs release Silva

Exactly, Z>Silva

I just used too many for emphasis. :shifty:

And I never said silva was better than Z. I just don't see a difference between silva and Cashner.

Cashner should be allowed to develop as a starter.

Silva didn't earn anything.

Exactly, the difference may be heard to see. That is why the Cubs had them compete for the spot in spring training. Cashner beat him, and then Mateo beat him.

Simple as that.

Meh...in a season you're not expected to contend in, I don't really have any problems w/ playing the younger guys.

He can start in the minors though.

You are right Cashner did beat him out but that still doesn't mean it was the right move for the Cubs.

Wasting how ever much money when we aren't really getting better just isn't smart. Silva should have started the first month at least and tried to get a taker. Then maybe release him for Cashner.

Also I bet silva mouthed off and said I am not pitching out ofthe pen after they told him. I know he said he would but I bet that was just talk.

Ive always been in favor of getting rid of Z too.

I do think Z's attitude is more heat of the moment kind of snappage while Silva seems to deflect blame to others.

Look, the Cubs were willing to spend that money, nothing else matters. He was beat out, so the Cubs had a few choices:
A) **** Cashner, Let Silva Start
B) **** Mateo, Let Silva Ruin the Pen
C) Silva was beat out, it's time for him to go.

If the Cubs were willing to eat that money, it is fine for them to spend it.

I'm not paying that salary.

I said it the day of his blowup. He was done with the Cubs.

When you pitch.. if you suck its your fault.. Errors don't = home run balls that you give up.
