I said it the day of his blowup. He was done with the Cubs.

When you pitch.. if you suck its your fault.. Errors don't = home run balls that you give up.

Oh ya and even if errors happen, cmon man... Shit happens. Its not all going on your ERA. You have to shake it off.

Love the move. Prolly one of the best moves under Rickett's so far. It also shows the Cubs arn't playing anymore. If you don't play and help the team, you could be on youir way out. Soriano better step it up or he'll be release (won't happen tho). If anything he'll be benched and I can see that happening.

Why would Soriano deserve to be released? Hasn't lived up to the contract but he's a solid player. Plus from everything I've heard he's a great clubhouse guy.

Because poods says that since Silva is released and doesn't think he should have, that Soriano should have to go now and should have gone before Silva.

I don't agree with it at all though.

Yeah I was pretty much going along with what Poods said. Do I think he should be release? Hell no. If the Cubs were gona pay his whole contract, they can fine a taker. No doubt and not pay his whole contract. Yeah the players like Fonzie in the locker room. He won't be release and shouldn't be release. But I can see him being benched for some time, games, etc.

But we have an equal player who will now be sitting the bench because of him.

Cashner and Silva are similar pitchers and we cut Silva to make room for Cashner.

Colvin and Soriano are similar players so I guess I don't get why we aren't cutting Soriano for the same reason.

That's all I am saying.

and if we got rid of him for the fight it was even dumber because we have let Z stay here through WAY worse stuff.

Then get rid of Fukudome instead of Soriano...

I would be okay with that, but I would rather get rid of Soriano.

I wouldn't. Soriano still drives in runs, and Colvin has looked better in RF than in LF or CF to me anyway.

Fuku only has 1 year left and has some value and Sori has WAY to many years left to relase plus he still has value. Silva had NO value on cubs. He was the 7th best option in the rotation.

Paying 8 million dollars was necessary, whether he was released or not. And Cashner starting is about more than this year.

And flushing 8 million dollars down the drain is about more than just this year as well.

No, because they were paying him that amount whether they gave him a job or not.

Basically, they are just paying Cashner and Mateo 8 million combined.

Sure, that's overpay, but so was Silva.

Well I would just say they are paying Cashner 8 million.

The whole point I was making is that money didnt all have to be spent by the Cubs. Nothing more nothing less.

First off, nice article, Poods.

I wouldn't. Soriano still drives in runs, and Colvin has looked better in RF than in LF or CF to me anyway.

He drives in runs because of where he hits in the line up. That's a terrible reason to say we should keep a guy.

Paying 8 million dollars was necessary, whether he was released or not. And Cashner starting is about more than this year.

Yeah, we were going to pay him 8 million dollars, ya know, unless we traded him.
Had we been able to save even two million off the deal and gotten a prospect it could have given us a little more wiggle room next year and even possibly a player back.

Plus, we are either paying him 8 million to sit on his ass or we are paying him 8 million to perform for us. He bashed the organization after we told him he wouldn't make the team, so that has absolutely nothing to do with him not making the team.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see him in New York pitching with Larry again.

Larry really seemed to turn him around and get him to pitch well.
