Finally! He's gone. :crazydance:

Again I am looking forward to lack of talent finally being recognized as the reason this team isn't very good at baseball.

Its good for payroll reasons. obviously the cubs are shedding salary and trying to build from within at a cheaper scale. I know the cubs arent hurting financially....

Will be interesting if they trade garza now.

what does this rotation look like?

garza
dempster
wells

and before anyone says it....edwin jackson isnt coming.

How is this good for payroll reasons? The Cubs aren't saving any money this year.

2012 Cubs Rotation as of now has to be something like this:
1.Garza
2.Dempster
3.Wood
4.Volstad
5.Wells
6.Cashner (Could see a flip flopping of Wells and Cashner but not likely given that out of the first five listed I think only Wood could be sent down without exposing to waivers)
7.Sonnastine
8.Coleman

LOL :obama:

Nobody ever said this team was going to be talented next year. Getting rid of assholes like Zambrano is still reason to celebrate as this team looks toward the future.

Think of it this way -- at least we aren't in the same boat as Houston. They've traded away virtually all their assets and have absolutely nothing to show for it. With all of their trades over the last few years (Hunter Pence, Michael Bourne, etc.) their farm system and young talent is scarce, at best.

I'm still a little scared of our starting rotation, especially if we end up trading Garza. I'm assuming we'd roll out Dempster, Wells, Wood, Volstad and Cashner. Yeesh... a #3 starter on his best day throwing out our first pitch in 2012. :bizarro:

Did I say that you were arguing that this team was going to be talented next year? No I said I am looking forward to when we can ignore dumb reasons like Carlos Zambrano being a bad teammate as why this team was bad and finally focus on the real problem of the lack of talent on the major league roster.

Cubs basically broke even. I think Volstad is due for an arbitration raise?

Yeah MLBTradeRumors put his estimated number at 2.6 million I believe. I would have to figure that the money is going to work out to be within several hundred thousand.

At this point Volstad is a younger pitcher who can be a good reclamation project. He has good peripherals, just needs to figure out how to keep the ball in the park. So the Cubs didn't trade for pure crap, but it's a bit of a stretch to call it a long term win at this point. He may easily fizzle out and be a non-tender guy and/or sent to the minors.

Haha.

Zambrano was a problem for who he was and how big of a problem he was in the clubhouse as was the lack of talent. Again, it blows my mind how people were still going to give him a chance this year. That is just horribly stupid and funny.

Why he would ever use it, but he could use his NTC to **** the cubs and make them pay him to do absolutely nothing. If you are the Cubs you want to trade him somewhere he will want to play, he likes ozzie so he will play there. I'm sure he would waive it anywhere to play, instead of sit. But if you are the Cubs you make sure its somewhere he will want to go.

Wow want to make up more stuff about what I said. Again the only thing I said as I am glad that we can finally focus on the real issue this team has been facing the past several seasons which is a lack of talent.
