Wow want to make up more stuff about what I said. Again the only thing I said as I am glad that we can finally focus on the real issue this team has been facing the past several seasons which is a lack of talent.

2010 and 2011 were definitely lack of talent. I think 2009 was pure bad luck though. I really thought the Cubs had a chance when they were in first place for like a couple days, but shit happens.

LOL at people thinking they were getting LoMo.

Quit huffing glue.

And I challenge you to find one person here that seriously said we were getting LoMo in this thread. The only person who posted that in this thread said in the very next post that he realized they weren't getting LoMo. If you want to actually discuss baseball fine, but can you quit making up strawman arguments to defeat.

Oh don't mind him, he's just a Level 2 troll while we're Level 80 paladins :D

I think there was a use for Z if they hadn't traded him, but at least now the media and the fans won't have this to launch at Theo/Jed when the Cubs completely suck this season.

It sucks the Cubs have to pay so much, but they get a guy under control for a few seasons. Its almost as if they're paying Volstad that contract.

Yup, that's why I think it's basically a wash.

I am happy to get anything for Zambrano considering we probably should have cut him last year.

Volstad might not be Jacob Turner, but he can throw some innings and has some upside.

This is addition by subtraction getting Zambrano off the team.

I wonder if this move takes them out of the running for Garza or not.

Also if the Cubs cut Soriano maybe the Cubs could finally just be bad at baseball and we don't have to invent reasons for the team playing poorly such as *insert hispanic player's name* here doesn't try hard enough.
So Cub fans just attack players because of their nationalities?

Or maybe fans and management don't like players who quit on their teams, don't play hard, and are aging badly.

Maybe Theo thought that Ramirez and Zambrano are both declining, and decided not to keep them around.

I guess the move is ok. Bottom line the Cubs were gonna suck this year no matter what so losing Zamrano for his final year and giving him a chance to win is alright. And they get a guy who was a high draft pick and has at least a small chance at being valuable in the future.

Ozzie and Z, together at last. I think that's too much crazy in one clubhouse.

Can't find the exact rumor, but reading the comments on the BleacherNation article has reports coming out of Miami that suggest Matt Dominguez could be in play too which would make this deal a huge win even if they pay all of Z's salary next year.

I don't particularly care for Dominguez. He's too much like Pedro Feliz.

Now, let's look at this trade....

Cubs are basically paying Chris Volsted Carlos Zambrano money. But, we get two more years of Chris Volsted. That's where we win.

Marlins are getting one year of Z at Chris Volsted money. That's where they win.

I guess this trade works for both teams although I'm not all that enamored with it. It certainly makes sense what Theo is doing here though.

This one is easy. Addition by subtraction. Yeah we payed 5/6ths of Zambo's contract, but moving on from him and his antics was much needed. Volstad's decent, I remember Theo saying that he wanted to add an abundance of servicable starting pitching, He has been doing that. Can't be upset about bringing in guys we control for a few more years. That's the key here.

This trade adds fuel to my prediction of the 2012 Cubs chasing the 62 Mets

Did I say that it was because of their nationalities? However, the main focal points of fans' ire were players of one ethnicity (which would be more accurate to say than nationality since Zambrano is Venezuelan and Ramirez and Soriano are Dominican).

You got your way, and they are gone. Now allow me to be happy that finally we can focus on real problems facing this team and not these invented reasons for poor performances of this club (which is the one thing I actually do care about when it comes to this team).
