Thanks for info.....imo effort guys can be totally trusted to be there every down, talented guys may or may not, if not, you can keep them........for me the combine can't tell anything one should or shouldn't already know about the playah.....I'm more of a tape and play on the field judging guy....
These are the guys that many "draft experts" and teams say are too small to play the position they played in college to be able to play it in the NFL and whatever other reason they come up with so they pass on them and teams like the Eagles and others pick them up and they play good/great in the NFL like Nakobe Dean or Zach Baun or the Dolphins getting Van Ginkel, who's now starting for the Vikings, and many other players. I love the all motor all effort guys.

I would go with Banks. Three years of outstanding production at Texas…

I would not mind Simmons but the doctors have to be spot on with their evaluation.

He has Banks going off the board at 18 to Seattle after Armand Membou, OT/G, Missouri and Will Campbell, OT/G, LSU as far as other OL.

Just interesting data points

A lot of his rankings will change by the time we get to April.

Oh, I know. He already had a different one with them in different slots.

I was more trying to look at the 'cloud' of OL that he had going in the top half of the 1st round.

So, he had 4 OL in that top half: Simmons, Membou, Campbell, and Banks.

Other 1st round OL: Booker, G, Alabama at 25; Conerly Jr., OT, Oregon; and Jackson, OT/G, Ohio State

So, he has 7 OL going in the 1st round in this latest mock

Interesting as well, he has 12 Defensive Line / Edge players in the 1st.

That's a lot of lineman in the 1st.

Can the Bears afford to use a draft pick on yet another player with injury concerns?
No. Especially not Simmons. None of these OTs are going to outperform Braxton jones this year IMO. Trading back will probably be the best option

Sure, but the problem is that the OL should have been fixed BEFORE Caleb Williams was drafted. We are so far behind that we have to bite the bullet and invest NOW even if the return isn't until a year later.

Well they definitely need to attack the OL but that doesn’t mean they need to go LT at 10. Hopefully, they could sign Trey smith or at the very least zeitler at RG. I’d like dalman at C

In the draft, I’d trade down and get another 2nd and draft best OL…at like 20 or whatever….whether that’s booker, conersly jr, savanaiieae or whoever else. Then draft another OL with one of their 3 2nds in this hypothetical scenario.

I mean that's a nice thought, but I just wouldn't count on FA. The better players rarely make it to FA.

Drafting a preinjured OL at 10 overall is comically-stupid bears.

And then a college edge rusher to probably not play in one of those schemes he's considered talented in? Did some digging, and U of Arkansas DC Travis Williams runs a multi-front scheme/3-2-6 scheme to stop crazy good speed/talent in the SEC where he blitzes corners/nickels a lot. Even a quick Youtube check for highlights he plays with his hand in the dirt in a 4-man front, stand up edge, and 5T. Good versatility. Good size, tall and lean. There's respectable college production, but he really didn't get better this year. 2023 was pretty equal, even though he was in the backfield more than 2024 on the stat sheet.

I’ll give Brugler this, dude's got a sense of humor when it comes to this franchise. That's pretty spot on and something the bears would totally do and think its a brilliant move.

Take it with a grain of salt though. Mock drafts are pointless and one of the OG content-driving reaction chasers.

Def not counting on Trey smith….but could definitely see zeitler and/or dalman. Bears have money….they may have to overpay a bit, but it is what it is.

Why do you think taking Simmons at 10 is comically bad? I believe it was an ACL, not a broken back. Pick depends on the medicals. Has a much higher ceiling than Braxton and is a better LT prospect than Banks or Campbell, imo. I think taking a G at 10 is a helluva lot more comically-bad than taking a guy who you think can lock down LT for a decade. If the Bears don’t draft him, I doubt he makes it past the 9ers right behind them.

Are we really going to draft another guy coming off of season ending injury? Sounds like a Poles thing to do

The Bears thing to do is to pass on a LT to draft a G, and to see the 9ers draft that LT to take Trent Williams’ place and lock it down for 10 years.

That said, I hope they take Nolen or Mykel Williams if they stay at 10 (and Carter is off the board).

Or they draft the guy and he can’t stay healthy. This franchise is damned either way most of the time.

Yeah hopefully that many won't go in the 1st and we'll have plenty to choose from at #39 and #41 but it wouldn't be shocking if that many or more are gone before that because everyone needs linemen on both sides of the ball.

Yeah, that seems to be pretty universal that the draft experts are still hung up on 'positions' and don't really understand the fluidity of NFL defenses. I think that's where you can get value in the draft.
