So then you would have to admit that he is a FABULOUS actor in front of cameras after a game right?

Not really sure he is. Most of the football-watching population of the country seems to agree he's a twat, not just those paying more attention to what his teammates say or his specific actions give away.

If Cutler cared about his actual performance and the game of football half as much as he cares about his clothes/hair/general appearance for post game press conferences we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

He is a prick but that whole loser talk is false

I would agree with this. Thing is, if you're going to be a prick, you better be really damn good otherwise it tends not to go well.

Agreed. Really sucks that Cutler ended up this way.

I think you are misremembering.

Lovie Smith persuaded Hester to move by mentioning his one national endorsement.

“You didn’t get a chance to do a Chunky Soup commercial based on back-pedaling,” the Bears coach recalled telling Hester. “It’s with your hands on the football. We want to get his hands on the football a few more times. Both sides saw it that way.”

“After I scored, (Lovie) said, ‘I told you you were making the right decision,’ ” Hester said. “I said, ‘You are right.’

That's not my point though. I don't think that Lovie went to Angelo and said, "this guy could be our No.1 wr". They paid him for his production on ST, and then had to justify all that money. It's logical to get your most dynamic player on the team the ball as many times as possible. The issue was believing that he could be turned in a true wr. And the money just cause more pressure to do it. That's my point.

Devin Hester. One of the most exciting players to ever play the sport. Could possibly make the HOF some day for being that good at returning kicks & punts. I know everyone here will probably never forget that opening kick off to the Super Bowl in 2006.

He was also a bad receiver and you're not shitting on his legacy for calling him a bad receiver because he was.

You don't think lovie the hc had anything to do with making Hester the number 1 WR on the team?

No, I do not think that Lovie advocated Hester being a No.1. His promotion to wr came after his big contract. I do believe that Lovie advocated getting the ball in his hands more...

That doesn't make sense. If lovie really had no control on where Hester played despite being the head coach then I'm extremely glad he is gone.

Of course he had control. That's NOT what I said. I said advocate. I do not believe Lovie thought Hester was a No.1 wr. Again I believe that he saw a guy who they thought they could get the ball in his hands as many times as possible. And the money put more pressure to do that.

"It's worth noting that Hester's two most successful years as a receiver came with Cutler in 2008 and 2009. In each year, Cutler targeted him 91 times"

Ha! Good shit.

Jay probably could have communicated more and tried to do more for Devin's confidence, but no matter what, Hester just isn't a good WR that has awful hands. The whole making him into a WR in the first place, especially with the expectations to be a number 1, was completely idiotic.
most of all, Devin said he didnt want to do it.

Also worth noting is Cutler was a Bronco in 2008.

Hester is one of the best players in Bears history. Why are people taking up for that bum Cutler?
