Aug. 25: RHP Edwin Uceta clears waivers, sent outright to Triple-A Iowa
The Cubs claimed the 25-year-old Uceta off waivers from the Mets on Aug. 18 and sent him to Iowa, where he has logged two appearances for the Triple-A team. This vacates a spot on the 40-man roster for Chicago, which has three open spots at the moment. Uceta has appeared in 25 MLB games for the Dodgers, D-backs and Mets over the past three seasons.

His splits are bad vs lefties. To go forward he will need a splitter or change to counter them.

I did not have Wicks as a just-in-time upgrade to a weakening rotation on my Cubs bingo card. I wasn't really expecting Suzuki to get hot either. Playoffs or not this has been a pretty interesting season.

They better be ready to pay Bellinger or next year is going to be a step backwards.
