Pitching wise it is correctable.

Assad and Smyly into the pen strengthens the staff.

Killian starts on Tuesday and would like up on Smyly's start on Sunday

Stroman should be back to start in Toronto. He should be very familiar with that environment so a solid game 1 starter vs the Jays.

If Jed first drops Kay and moves Smyly back to middle relief then axe Bernhart. Amaya has established himself and it is time to stop wasting 26 man roster spots.

Killian up earlier than I expected. Jed must see the signs also and came in armed today.

The Cubbies not going far with Hendriks and Smyly tired arms. Enjoy games with that in mind...

I'm pretty sure that Smyly will go back to following a opening pitcher again. He was successful in that stint.

Killian has earned a opportunity again. His AAA performance shows turning a corner. Yesterday he came in with the bases loaded and got a DP and a ground out to end it with 1 run given up. The rain delay ended his outting as he most likely would have closed out that game thus saving the pen from that road kill

Interesting enough Taillon has been the staff ace post all star game.

Taillon 2.82 ERA
Steele 3.03
Hendricks 5.79
Smyly 8.37
Stroman 10.13

Middle relief core
Assad 1.59
Wesneski 2.57

Fullmer 1.69
Leiter 2.19

This is the reason to move Smyly into the pen and Killian to the rotation. The bridge is pretty good right now and you want to keep it stable. Bringing up 2 guys that are successful in a role weakens that role.

Adding a SP that has 17 starts and has been on a starters routine makes most sense at this juncture.

I feel that Stroman will rebound. Injury is a palatable reason for his tank job. If it was 2.00 to 4.00 then I would say law of avg. 2.00 to 10.00 is a red flag for a greater issue.

Dropped to 38 on the 40 man. Wonder why? They had a spot open for a waver pick.
