At a Subway?? Lmao

I really wasn't referring about Subway. I was referring about getting service at a restaurant from a waiter or waitress. You just like to pick out and piece shit together because thats what you like to do .

Subway, 5 Guys, Starbucks, etc...where they have a jar they get some change maybe a buck & change. Sit down restaurant 15-20%. 15% is for mediocre but passable service, great service may get more than 20%. I expect more at a fancy, high end place, obviously, than a family place or pizza place. Yes, I tip less when service is not up to expectations. But I make a real effort to try and correct the problem with the waitstaff before it gets to the point of tipping less. This helps almost every time. Let them know you are upset and give them a chance to make a correction.

If that doesn’t work, and it hasn’t before even at high end places, they are going to get a lot less. I have been asked “was there a problem”? And I have said, “yes, and I let you know 10 minutes in and you didn’t seem to care so that is what you get.”. Tough shit. I have only left zero tip a couple of times when it was clear we wouldn’t be finishing the meal.

Want to run a scenario by you guys. I've been to a couple of places the past few weeks where you order at a counter and pay, then sit down and someone brings the food out to you. That's really it for the service. There was no waiter. But when you pay there is a spot to tip. Typically, I never give a tip to those places, but the past two times I've done that I was given a look. Not really a dirty look, just like a 'wow okay dick'.

Would you guys tip at a place like that? They aren't really doing anything to earn a tip besides taking my order.

Places like that I tip because they do refills on drinks and clean the table afterwards. In those spots, I tip 10%. Others, awful service gets 15% and as someone mentioned I may not go back again. I figure everyone is entitled to a bad day at work. People need the money so if I can't afford to tip, I do not go.
My usual is 20% but if they bring me water very frequently or two at a time, 30%.

Delivery I tip 15-20% of $1.25 per mile. The greater of the two.

My girls tip 30-50% at the salons.

Kind of an existential question. I mean is there really such a thing as a bad tip? Something is always better than nothing, true?

I suppose the worst tip I ever left was this place I dined and dashed at more often than Karma should have allowed. That is like a negative tip.

15-20% for delivery? No. Especially if they already have a delivery charge.

I usually tip my Barber $ 5.00 , thats like a 35 % tip. I usually raid his candy jar though, and he has good reading material.

I tip bartenders very well because there is alcohol involved. Otherwise, I am only tipping to impress my date over really caring about the service.

Then I learned how to cook and cut out the middle man. Chicks dig it when you cook and I save oodles of cash.

So you make sure your date see's the tip you are leaving? Do you take 2 $ 100.00 dollar bills and place them on a roll of singles also?

You're so cheesy . lol

If someone is super nice in those situations (think at Panera) I might leave a buck on the table, but realize there is zero obligation for that and should be zero expectation.

And Latino, Black, Asian or Jewish, too, right? You likely don’t not tip the many white, grey haired, Christian males waiters.

Delivery drivers get 5 bucks from me. That is my standard. Of course I delivered Pizza when I was young and it made your night when someone tipped you well.

I will tell you this though. There was a time when we ordered delivery from a pizza joint that was close by frequently and once they realized they were getting five bucks for driving around the corner our pizza was always there fast, hot, and the order was always perfect. I have since stopped eating pizza entirely except on cheat occasions, so when I do I avoid all of the fast food pizza places as there are better options even though I may have to pick it up or go sit down for it.
