I've been cracking up all day reading that.
This is kind of an interesting point because both Russell and Schwarber also struggled big time against lefties.
you act as though soler is untradeable somehow and that is definitely not the case
100% sure I said if they trade him CF is the bigger need. You act like someone who was wrong and now are trying to change what the conversation is about instead of manning up.
Give them some time.
So right now, here is probably the 29 guys fighting for spots on the 25 man
Locks (21)
C - Montero, Ross
1B - Rizzo
2B - Zobrist
3B - Bryant
SS - Russell, Baez
OF - Soler, Heyward, Coghlan, Schwarber
SP - Arrieta, Lester, Hendircks, Hammel, Lackey
RP - Rondon, Strop, Cahill, Wood, Warren
Battle for last four spots
Hitters - LaStella, Alcantra, Szczur
Pitcher - Richard, Brothers, Medina, Ramirez, Rosscup
Note: I assume that Edwards could potentially be moved back to a SP role with this many arms
My five biggest questions
1. Where does Baez take the most time in spring training
2. Will the Cubs make a trade for a TOR arm
3. Is the rotation set or will it potentially involve multiple guys going 3-5 innings
4. How willing are the Cubs to trade prospects in a large 4/5 for 1/2 deal?
5. What is Heyward/the Cubs willingness to play him in CF?
I would rethink the idea of trading away a bona fide MLB power bat for something they don't need (CF)I would trade Hendricks and Soler for a SP/CF combo. Move Heyward back to where his D plays up more.
I prefer Baez in a reserve role until he proves otherwise.
Or they could go after Sale and send Soler, Hammel, Baez and Edwards. Then resign Fowler.
They already broke the piggy bank. F-it.
