Gotcha, buddy. Started using 5 basic compound exercises lately, Dead lift, front squats, bench press, dips and pull-ups.

Keeping the carbs low but allow more in lately so not ultra low but still under 50 a day. Still embracing the good fats and da coconut oil. Weight staying in 180-184 range now.

thats guud stuff. those 5 are a good base to build from.. ur on way of avoiding the winter relapse.

me fat sauna suit came in but i aint use it today.. i want to get my water hydration on a routine for a couple of weeks first.. been dranking way too many diet sodas n energy drinks for the last 2 months.. going back to me two black cups of coffee fer breakfast and then water the rest of the day once me energy drink supply is gone.. the supply only has 3 big ones left.. so 3 more mornings..

i broke me second fat hibernation finally.. started my two week reintroduction today,,,, a couple weeks ahead of me schedule. me body definitely felt weighed down.. must be that 80 pound gut.. but im not sure..

i didnt do much.. stretching, maybe 500-1000 punches.. 1/8 speed and 1/8 power if that. just going fru the motion punching.. waking up me shoulders and focusing on form, balance n weight transfer. did glove weight shoulder rotation exercises, body weight squats, jumping jacks and maybe 5 minutes on the bike.. probably 20-30 min of coasting.. but i broke a minor sweat towards the end n felt me heart waking up.. so a couple of weeks of this n maybe some band work n then ill start to push a lil..

I can’t do front squats every time i do it the tendinitis in my knees go wild.

But massage therapy and accupuncuture has me deadlifting again. Did 275 @ 8 reps last week was really happy about that.

You should take it slow when getting back into workouts. I like to research what is best for peeps of my age group and what I find is less cardio and more compound exercises for the people over 40 is what works best while keeping the workouts relatively short but with little rest.

You'll, of course, need to reduce the calories to drop the weight. Still think the 5-6 meals a day is a losing proposition when trying to lose weight. 3 meals should be suffice for anyone and, I think, cutting way back on the carbs and upping the fats is still the best way cause you won't find yourself hungry between those meals and you'll see your energy level increase as well. If not into the Ketosis wave, the Atkins diet is still a thing and born of the same concepts of ketosis but not as gung-ho. Also can still find many Atkins products in grocery stores and there's apps for it as well.

As summer nears its end, I do plan on putting on an additional 15-20 pounds but this time it will be all muscle and no visceral fat and I'll also be starting with a weight 15-20 pounds less than I usually use as the target.

You should be happy about that. Not quite up to that myself as I'm nursing some sciatica in my left leg now. Think I'm doing the right shit for it though and feels like it's getting better. It doesn't really hamper me that much even when at its worst but I'll feel a ton better and willing to take on more when it's gone.

good luck hitting 15-20 pound of pure muscle fer winter, gear free....., maybe 15-20 fat/muscle on a dirty bulk..... well how long do u consider winter... maybe you'll hit that much muscle in a year... would be easier if you were dirty bulking but if youre trying to limit fat gained too.. idk.... dirty bulk n then cut....... if you is new to lifting, 15 pounds of muscles in 6 months is possible but 15-20 over a year would be a fair time frame for a newb who aint no teen.

my 5-6 meals is 3 stretched out. i like me carbs.. on me plan its about 50ish(no oats) -110g depending on how much oats i eat.. most of me carbs are from the oats... so if i go low on oats or skip out on them completely, im on a low carb or borderline low carb for the day..

if i were already 200-220 id be more hiit n less time for sure. but im working around being out of shape, fat, ill, n aging.. trying not to break meself while im out of shape.. if i were young n fit.. id go 110 as fast as possible.. i just had the time to pace longer workouts..

once work actually fucking starts.. slow ass org.. too proper with too many inductions n training n paperworks... but whenever that starts, ill have to adjust me meals and workouts.

Nah, not in a rush for the 15-20 pounds of muscle. More so a long term plan. Expect to be able to go full out with the workouts, 5 days a week, from September til next summer. Just see what works best and adjust along the way. I'm not afraid to get a little dirty along the way if need be. Also going to be looking to add more core strength.

I cut out the oatmeal stuff as part of losing the weight, too many carbs (especially the way I like it.) 50ish grams of carbs though would be rather good considering the average American takes in 250g per day. Days I have 50ish grams of carbs I like to spend them on things like sushi, a sweet potato or sandwich. I still stick a lot more to meat, eggs and green vegetables. The veggies can be real tasty with butter and seasoning. Also the way they're cooked can make them much more enjoyable. Stuff like asparagus and brussel sprouts are best done in a frying pan with oils and other seasonings added for me. So I still enjoy the food I eat but the added fat w/good oils not only makes them taste better but much more satiating.

Interesting new study done on omega 3 fatty acids...

The Cochrane researchers found that increasing long-chain omega 3 provides little if any benefit on most outcomes that they looked at. They found high certainty evidence that long-chain omega 3 fats had little or no meaningful effect on the risk of death from any cause. The risk of death from any cause was 8.8% in people who had increased their intake of omega 3 fats, compared with 9% in people in the control groups.

They also found that taking more long-chain omega 3 fats (including EPA and DHA), primarily through supplements probably makes little or no difference to risk of cardiovascular events, coronary heart deaths, coronary heart disease events, stroke or heart irregularities. Long-chain omega 3 fats probably did reduce some blood fats, triglycerides and HDL cholesterol. Reducing triglycerides is likely to be protective of heart diseases, but reducing HDL has the opposite effect. The researchers collected information on harms from the studies, but information on bleeding and blood clots was very limited.

The systematic review suggests that eating more ALA through food or supplements probably has little or no effect on cardiovascular deaths or deaths from any cause. However, eating more ALA probably reduces the risk of heart irregularities from 3.3 to 2.6%. The review team found that reductions in cardiovascular events with ALA were so small that about 1000 people would need to increase consumption of ALA for one of them to benefit. Similar results were found for cardiovascular death. They did not find enough data from the studies to be able to measure the risk of bleeding or blood clots from using ALA.

Increasing long-chain omega 3 or ALA probably does not affect body weight or fatness.

Cochrane lead author, Dr. Lee Hooper from the University of East Anglia, UK said: “We can be confident in the findings of this review which go against the popular belief that long-chain omega 3 supplements protect the heart. This large systematic review included information from many thousands of people over long periods. Despite all this information, we don’t see protective effects.

“The review provides good evidence that taking long-chain omega 3 (fish oil, EPA or DHA) supplements does not benefit heart health or reduce our risk of stroke or death from any cause. The most trustworthy studies consistently showed little or no effect of long-chain omega 3 fats on cardiovascular health. On the other hand, while oily fish is a healthy food, it is unclear from the small number of trials whether eating more oily fish is protective of our hearts.
