You got this I love trying new unique things in the gym. The typical workouts get stale and kill improvements

Yeah I have been getting bored. Muscle confusion supposedly works better for muscle growth because they can't get used to a routine if you keep changing it up.

Soar throat these past few days so ill try it on Monday and post results.

You gotta shock the muscle

I like your motivation it’s like finding an artifact in a video game. It’s like a special power. This shit getting in shape and staying in shape isn’t easy. Have you felt like quitting?

Nah, i dont feel like quitting, i feel like doing more, but my body wont let me. out of shape and age.. i see the difference between 19, 29 and 39 fer sure..

I dont know if its different for me since ive been in shape and was an athlete at one point. PLus dat military training...dat mindset n discipline when i choose to use it.. cause i got a 5 yr old with plenty of good snacks be all around that dont even tempt me.. i just made up me mind to change.

Diets been easy enough..i eat 5-8 times a day and dont feel hungry minus me missing enough fats dat one day.. I need to optimize better fer sure.

Workouts are improving.. my mind is already there, back at inshape me, i just have to wait fer me body to catch up..

however, i need to start planning better n put down a better regiment to maximize some shit.. i haven't introduced sandbags fully.. just that one day.. im waiting til i feel like m body hits a plateau in the next 15-20 pounds and then im going to change it up to push through that..

i dont really have a motivation as weird as that sounds.. just made a change in lifestyle.. n i know whats required of that. or maybe i dont see da motivation..

Cardio is ok but it also kills muscle growth so you don’t want to over do it. You can do cardio pretty much doing weights in a different style

Like ex military guy taught me this for cardio. You can actually do 3 sets of these and call it a day

20 pull-ups 20 burpees(alternate them one pull up one burpee until 20 each)
Then do 20 push-ups or 20 military press
Then do 10 pull-ups 10 burpees(again alternate)

3 sets of that sometimes has me seeing Jesus

He has another combo with dead lifts which I can’t do cause of lower back pain. But just an example of being creative can complete cardio and weight lifting without running

I should try this in my cutting cycle

except calorie deficit.

Not according to the doctors/dietitians I have been dealing with. The body has a natural tendency to turn food into fat when you finally eat after starving yourself. Its a survival mechanism.

You're not wrong. I weighed in at a shade over 380 pounds when I started my diet and exercise but my overall body fat and muscle density was measured at that starting point. After losing 80 pounds I was again examined and measured and while I had lost 80 pounds I had also lost muscle mass. Since then I had been told I needed to start lifting weights on top of my cardio. Since then I've gained muscle mass and dropped another 20 pounds. I still haven't gotten to the point of getting my 3rd measurement to see how much muscle mass I have gained though and we already know muscle weighs more than body fat so despite my weight loss slowing down significantly I know that its not a bad thing since I have surely gained a good amount of muscle in the process as well.

Absolutely nothing beats cardio for weight loss.

Huh?

Except for the fact that every trainer i’ve spoken with or heard will tell you that for straight-up weight loss, diet is 10x more impactful than exercise.

You can't lose weight without a calorie deficit it's literally impossible (except lipo). Cardio just speeds up the process by burning more calories thus increasing the deficit.

You can run 10 miles a day but if you eat more than you need to lose weight you won't lose weight.

edit: correct me if I'm wrong, but from everything I've researched and personal experience, this seems to be true.

100 pounds.. dats boss.. congrats on dat.. aint easy.

i think one can grow muscle while losing fat and while also being in a caloric deficit. me thinking while da body is deficit via da food, i think the body would then burn fat to make up those calories to build da muscle. perhaps, the muscle one could build would be minimal on a bodybuilder scales, but a few pounds is still a few pound. if you came from 380, im sure you builted some muscle while your body fed on fat to make up dat caloric deficit..

after weighing myself the other day, ive gained nearly a pound. during both morning and night weigh in.. i be eating and drinking roughly the same amounts.. however, me pushups improved by 20% in max reps in this time and felt a lot easier to do. some may argue.. well you can get strong still... i be thinking i gained sum muscle. my chest looks a lil a bit bigger and my shirts i use to measure me belly seem a tad bit loser during last few days.. but its hard to tell.. cause i had lil man boobs starting again that i melted away

Yup. For the past month, I have been tracking my calories and not going over my predetermined amount per day. The below link is what I use.

https://manytools.org/handy/bmr-calculator/

Yesterday though we went to Texas de Brazil and there was no way I could calculate all the meat I ate. I did only eat about 600 total calories before the meal, so I think it wasn't that bad of a day overall. If you know you are going to have a party or some monster meal, plan ahead.

mane a brazilian steak house sounds good as ****... i be had me cheat meal yesterday finally.. was gonna hit up burger king for a triple whopper or kfc for a double stacker but i came home and ate a box of breaded pre fried calamari rings for me unhealthy fat load.... about 600 calories,, but big fats... a whopper would have probably been more healthy.... next cheat meal is cheesy ass pizza in 2-3 weeks..

i wonder how those calculators really be work.. mine be says that my daily calorie needs is 3424..

i swear i gained my weight eating less than dat daily..

but i think my body went into some sort of starvation mode even with all me food.... no nutritional value fer most of me meals.. so my body held on to everything it got.. nutrient starved.. as soon as i overload on guud nutrients my body starts losing.. dis pc body is weird.. even doc brown got his time machine to run on garbage..

damn gonna have to eat roo steak today.. will pretend it some yummy brazilian meat buffet..

That is probably your calculated calories needed to maintain your weight. Since you want to lose weight, you would have to work that in. Remember a lb of fat is 3,500 calories. 2 lbs a week is 7,000. Divide that by 7 and you need a 1,000 deficit each day to lose 2 lbs of fat a week.

For me the hardest thing was forcing myself into not eating at night time. Going to the gym or doing cardio at home on the treadmill after work and then not eating anything at night time has helped me shed weight. Its forcing my body into burning the fat for energy. I had a super bad habit of eating full meals at night time and usually particularly late at night like midnight/1AM.

I'll try to find the article but you can eat whenever you want. Your body doesn't work on a 24 hour clock like our lives do. They found people who ate throughout the day, only early, only late, etc all had the same progress. Lemme look for it real quick.

I usually have the same eating schedule you mentioned. I never eat my first meal until like 2pm. I hate breakfast, I'm never hungry in the am. I go to the gym then eat my first meal. I work nights so I usually eat a big meal before work and bring a few things to eat at work or just don't eat at work and when I get home late at night I sometimes eat a meal.

I'll read those in a moment but all I can say is that I am doing exactly what my gastroenterologist/dietitian is telling me to do and its working like a charm. I even stopped taking the fat blocking medications I used to drink, against his recommendation, and am still losing weight anyways. I would far rather not rely on meds than have to, particularly because those meds were expensive as **** anyways.

hey more power to ya if it works. Avoiding food before bed is wise if you have stomach problems or heartburn, etc. Everyone's body is different so if your diet/plan works then definitely stick to it.

nah, i never tried one of those bowls, i dont think aus has them...... i hardly went to kfc in the usa unless it was for a double down.. im big on da popeyes.... i like kfcs spicy double stackers in aus.. only because they dont have double downs here..

good thang i got beans n rice ready to go or id be eating a up storm today too.. had a huge rain n me gym area leaked.. insurance peeps coming out again.. this is like the 4th-5th time they been out since december...been fighting with these bitches for months..they keep being slow bitches cause insurance is a scam.....

faught fer weeks for contents.. n then weeks for carpet n blinds..good thang there were tiles/concrete underneath n not floorboards.. .now we fighting on the roof....not a standard roof.. idk what they be called but its like a waferboard flat roof or something for a sunroom extension.. no crawl space..... but worst flood yet.. they had a tarp that puddled water and released shit into da sunroom....

so another wasted day dealing wif insurance n cleaning shit up.. then da sista in law be coming to visit n stay a night or two.. hope this dont **** up me shit fer days.

i can say having shit prepared in bulk does help.. ive been making a couple days worth of food at a time. think imma go even more and freeze shit... yeah think ill waste dis flood day on making food to store..

got that body by jake knockoff in today... its meh.. better than that piece of shit gold gyms one... while i can feel a burn, i doubt this thing will build muscle beyond a certain point. perhaps a lil muscle and itll help ye tone some.. maybe im just too set in me ways n my mind needs plates of weight.. but ill do this fer awhile until i build me sandbags n introduce dat.

having two days off sucks.. mentally it made me want to take a third off.. had to be check meself. while some parts of me body were super rested others felt weaker than normal.. too much rest idk..

me workout was meh too.. i didnt have the treadmill for the middle of me workout to push me heart rate up.. da flood.. so the wife be like let the electric cords i run to it dry out.. whatever.. i did introduce this old exercise bike.. wish i would have earlier.. while it didnt get me heart rate pounding.. i felt me quads getting a great burn.. now if i could have pushed me quads fer along time that rate would have jumped.. but i plan on adding da bike every other day now.. cause my quads are still weak.. stronger than they were, but weak as **** wiff no real endurance built in them yet..

getting bored of the current bean n rice flavor..i think its time i make a meatless chili and eat that fer a week before moving on to another flavor..

Zatarrains Red Beans and Rice is good stuff if they have it there. We usually add sausage to it, but it's not needed.

I agree with Mitch about eating at night it’s fake news saying you can’t. You can eat all the calories allotted to you for a 24 hour day all at one time if you want. Reason why you shouldn’t do that is so you don’t go the rest of the day hungry which will lead to you breaking down then indulging. The main thing you need to do is count those calories and not go over in a given day.

Btw I don’t know if it was mentioned before but fat free cottage cheese and ostrim ostrich sticks are great healthy snacks to get full on of course watch the servings
