I agree with the OP and for the rest of you, offer some proof. Saw this the other day. It's a list of QBs and how they did over their first 4 years and then how they did after that. They tend not to get much better.

If you don't see the "potential" come to fruition in the first 4 years, there's a great chance it never will.

Four years, eh? Wow...you must have really thought John Elway was a pile of crap then. Elway didn't have a year where he even sniffed a rating above 90 until he was 33 years old in 1993...as a matter of fact, he had only one year where his rating was above 80 up until that point. Football fans who speak in absolutes never cease to amaze me. Let me say this once: each individual player can only be judged on his own merits going forward. There is no set standard or ratio for age-success.

If you want to say you would like to upgrade from Cutler? That is fair. But I, personally, will cherish the best quarterback the Bears have had since the '50's even if he is just "good" or "above average." However, if Cutler has a bad game, or a bad streak, I will chastise him for it just like I would any other player. The way some fans refuse to give credit to certain players because they "never liked them" or refuse to criticize a player because they have always had a love affair with said player is insane.

Picking 1 or 2 QBs who bucked a trend doesn't do anything to discount it. There will always be exceptions to the rule. And if I had the best bad apple in a big pile of bad apples, I still wouldn't want it.

I don't care about Matt Flynn. Why do you? It's a pathetic habit of yours to try and make every other QB out there look worse than they are to make Cutler, the man you love, look better than he is.

Actually, yes it does. If there are "exceptions" to a rule, then it is not a rule, it is nothing more than a hypothesis. That last line means absolutely nothing, just rhetoric. In no way can Jay Cutler be described as a "bad apple," even by someone who is as openly biased towards him as you are. If you want to pigeon-hole players into some ridiculously stupid formula, go right ahead, but there are a hell of a lot more than "1 or 2 exceptions." I now understand why you are universally hated on the old board and the new, you exalt your own football knowledge while displaying very little of it. Bullshit and name calling over substance...I understand your schtick now.

When did Cutler show he had it? Never had a rating even over 90 and never won crap. Was part of an epic collapse in his last year in Denver and got taken down to the whipping post by Green Bay in the only year he was in the playoffs. Rodgers was on the bench for 3 years awaiting Favre's dismissal and the first year he started he put up better numbers than Cutler ever did.
When did Cutler have it u ask? Let me sum it up in facts for u...When he shattered that Hall of Famers passing records! Umm...i think his name was John Elway!
Oh yeah...he made the pro bowl too.
U are seriously a hater and should think before u spew out your usual Cutler hate. Wow. How could u forget or not include those facts?
Hahahaha

I don't get why some people don't acknowledge the big improvements Cutler made in 2010 and 2011...

I wonder how some men can skirt the issue soo many times instead of admitting when they are wrong...soo many times!
Laughable man! Did Spartan really say the Hanie and Flynn comments? I would definitely believe that.

I noticed some improvent in areas but his numbers still the same as they ever were so it wasn't that profound.
