see, that is the scary thing to consider...mahomes has still not reached his "ceiling" yet. most QB's i imagine their "primes" are ages 28-33 roughly.

Mahomes is 28 years old, just entering those "prime" years.
Mahomes is 29, 30 in mid September.

Brady had a 5000+ yard season after the age of 40.

Right now Mahomes isn't close to Brady and he probably isn't number 2 either.

I believe he will end up #2 and the gap between him and Brady will shrink, but by the end of his career, he'll still be #2. When Mahomes retires my bet is on Brady still having more SB wins, more SB appearances, more conference championships, more divisional titles, more passing yards, and more passing touchdowns. AND I don't believe that Mahomes' peak level of play to this point surpasses Brady's (or Rodgers' or Manning's or possibly Dan Marino's).

this logic has already been debunked, thanks!
These fucking stupid questions are open ended and up to each individual’s interpretation. So you’re welcome

Not really. Plenty of guys played more years than Jordan. And Russell won 2 more titles. Babe Ruth is considered better than Hank Aaron despite Aaron playing longer and breaking his HR record.

If you measure GOAT by consistency then sure Mahomes has a long way to go. If you measure it by who had the longest period of sustained dominance then Mahomes already has Brady beat.

For me if I had to win one game, I am taking Mahomes no doubt. I can more easily defend Brady than Mahomes as Mahomes is comparable to Brady as a pocket passer but is vastly superior on the move and using his feet.

See above. Cant think of any sport where GOAT is measured by who played the longest. It is usually always who was most dominant during their peak years.
Ok so let's say on a scale of 1-10 of dominance Patrick Mahomes is a 10, which has lasted for 7 years. Let's say Tom Brady is a 9, and that lasted for 18 years.

To me, 9/10 dominance for 18 years is better than 10/10 dominance for 7 years.

Also Idk who I'd take in one game. Tbh, I'd probably take peak Aaron Rodgers in one game over both of them (and everyone else).

Remember this in a few years when Mahomes has gone to 10 straight AFC title games and is collecting his 6th Super Bowl in 8 years by Age 33.

You'd take the guy who couldn't win in the playoffs over two guys who have combined for like 14 Super Bowls?

you are correct on his age, i was a year off

"right now mahomes isnt close to brady and he probably isnt #2 either" - based on what? every metric of note leans in mahomes favor over Brady by age 29

give me something other than your personal opinion that makes one believe such a claim. something factual, not emotional

I mean if the argument is that Mahomes is the 29 year old GOAT if we cut it off there, then I accept that.

But what I'm arguing is that Brady right now is the overall GOAT (taking everyone's entire career into account), for which I have given plenty of facts. I'm not saying Brady up to age 29 had a better career than Mahomes up to age 29.

Hes closing the gap, but he isn't even 30 and I don't think there's any real argument he's lower than the 2nd best at worst

Rodgers usually played extremely well in the playoffs tbh. He could have easily made it to more than 1 he just didn't (remember the SEA collapse which wasn't his fault). It's not like he played poorly/dropped off in the playoffs like LJ. Also he did win the time he made it, for what it's worth.

BUT mainly what I'm basing that take on is I saw all 3 of them play in their primes/peaks (Mahomes may get better, but idk if he will), and IMO Rodgers was the best by a little.

If Mahomes retired right now you'd have him as the 2nd best ever? I think there's an argument to be made for it, but I wouldn't agree. I think I would have him 4th, but anywhere 2-5 I think would be fair.

I mean, Mahomes by age 29 and as of 1/27/25 is all we have to go on. none of us are claiming to be able to predict the future lol

This will literally only take a couple more years of the current dominance we've seen, even if he doesn't win each of the next 3 Super Bowls (Sunday + 2 years down the road).

Brady had periods of missing or not advancing far in the playoffs. Mahomes has never missed an AFC Championship game. Just a different level at the moment.

If Mahomes becomes the first QB to win 3 in a row, it's going to be really hard not to elevate him to the GOAT.

The same flawed “logic” as anyone else’s opinion
No, that’s not the case here

I’ve presented statistics and awards as factual evidence to back up the claims made

You can disagree with what to extrapolate from them, but to claim it’s the same as your “more rings” logic is incorrect
