Yep. Castro isn't a real human being and his contract is paid in monopoly money. There isn't anything real about MLB. It's like the WWE. Everything is scripted.
You can be as sarcastic as you like, bottom line baseball a game its not real life...

@RandyWehofer: Kris Bryant puts an exclamation point on this one -a towering 2-run HR in the 9th for his 3rd hit. #Cubs lead 13-0.

Even Bryant bat wakes up tonight... 3 hits and first HR

The game is real. So are the stats. Quit deflecting that your argumentative position isn't a very good one.

I literally just said that's not what the metrics suggest... what I'm saying is people think "Oh Jeter is clutch. Look at all his big plays in the playoffs!" However, when you look at his numbers in high leverage situations or "clutch" if you prefer that term they aren't significantly different than his numbers the rest of the time. The point isn't that clutch doesn't exist. The point as I said before is that people believe more that a good player is clutch as opposed to lessor players. In the case of Jeter, it's easy to think of all these plays he's made. What people don't think about is the fact that he's likely top 10 all time in playoff games. In other words, comparative to other people he's had far more chances to come up big not to mention as a hitter he's obviously never been a bad player.

Put another way, the metrics say these people are the best hitters in high leverage situations over the past 20 years

1 Jesus Flores
2 Willie McGee
3 Dave Clark
4 Jim Eisenreich
5 Doug Strange
6 Greg Dobbs
7 Joe Orsulak
8 Dave Magadan
9 Brayan Pena
10 Dave Hansen

No one is honestly going to talk about these guys when they talk about clutch. They are going to bring up guys like Jeter or Miggy or whomever you prefer even though those player's aren't particularly better players in "clutch" situations than they are in "non-clutch" situations. Miggy isn't better in the clutch. He's just really fucking good all the time and people view him as clutch because of it.

I have to admit, I didn't even read what you posted. That is how much I don't care, or believe, in the subject. My apologies, but as I said, I'm probably not a good guy to have this conversation with. :nope: Also, before you post again, I didn't read past your 1st sentence on this post either to which I bolded. You enjoying the game? :dunno:

Alcantara has had a rather interesting season so far numbers wise. He has a 27.3% walk rate which is astronomical. His K rate is 36.4% which is also fairly high. He also has a .000 BABIP. He's 0-4 when putting balls into play. Despite that he still has a .222 OBP because of the walks. To an extent he's doing the opposite of what Baez struggled with last year. He's seen 29.2% pitches in the strike zone. Looks like he's sort of just letting the pitchers walk him since they aren't really throwing him good stuff to hit. He's only swinging 37.5% of the time with 57.1% vs strikes and 29.4% vs balls.

I'm wondering if it wouldn't be worth while to move him up in the line up because honestly he's not really getting much to hit. Perhaps as he continues to prove he'll settle for the walk they will attack him more.

If you're not even willing to read what people say then what's the point in being on a message board? I mean you're well within your right to believe whatever the hell you want but the entire point of a message board is discussion.

Actually, no. The green you used was too dark on the crappy lappy I'm on tonight. I suggest you use a lighter one, like you used the 2nd time.
Or you could use something other than a crappy laptop.;)

The people playing thm are real. The stats are happening in real time. The Giants winning the world series last season actually happened. Sports are as real as any other occupation. People go to work. People get paid. People get fired. People cheat. People get stressed. People perform well no matter the circumstance, some people even work overtime compared to the other employees. And the horror of everything is that many have families they support on what they make in MLB. It's not real life at all. GMAFB

Hey man, I'm trying to respectful towards you, but when someone starts with the "there is no clutch players" bullshit, I tune out. I talk on the Bears, Bulls, Cubs, and even the Sox forums. I'm able to have convo's with a lot of people. If you want to talk about this subject, have it with someone else. I also pretty much told you that....3 fuckin times now. Who's going on now? :dunno:

Starlin Castro respecting 90...

Like to see this! Baserunning hasn't been anything of a positive for him. All I want is to see him bust his ass to be his best. That has always been my issue with him.

I think with Maddon and having Russell over his shoulder, he will be stepping it up more this year...

There's no such thing as clutch. There are good players who hit well and people who don't.

And I'm not trying to be a dick either but the very first thing I said in any of this conversation was "According to the metrics, there is clutch hitting." I don't know how I can be more clear than that. Even then you chose not to read what I had to say and assumed some how the exact opposite. That doesn't strike me as having a conversation with someone since you clearly weren't reading what I had to say.

If you're just saying you can't be arsed to talk about the topic that's fine too. But I'll remind you that you're the one who brought up clutch hitting to begin with as I was replying to you and Parade.
