Pisses me off when a starter bust their ass for 7/8 innings and the pen can't hold the lead

That's baseball. It's also one of the reasons the cubs have been so successful because they typically have done that to other teams.

Nice work by Wood getting out of that jam. Also, if the cubs end up winning this it's sort of nuts that Hammel would already have 7 wins. For a lot of #4/5 starters that is all the wins you'll get in a year.

Rizzo looks like he could be heating up which would be huge.

Rondon is seriously underrated. It's fun to think about the worry about him in spring training.

Man, this team is GOOD! I don't what's better the pitching or the offense? I'd side with the staff right now as the offense has had some no shows. While Lester in SF is the only bad start I can think of. We are legit. Health would be my only concern going forward.

Why they need to give the Yankees a call

Strop is good more often than he's bad and Cahill did what he was supposed to, kept Goldschmidt from effectively winning the game. When was the last time you saw a team with a perfect pen? Not even last year's KC team had that and this team has way better starting pitching. Relax.

At the moment, pending the Pitt game....Cubs have a double digit lead on everyone.

If you recall i was pretty much the only one defending Strop last year..so, i have no problem with Strop.

My point is, why not make a good bullpen better and keep them fresh with more bullets to turn to.

Dont need it to be perfect but be nice to be close to it

Yes things are going good now , but i hope management just dont get too comfortable and do nothing to pretty much solidify and make it a solid roster when their this close.
Remember there no guarantee they will be this good next year, etc etc , anything can happen..
So, why not with being this good this year hope management tries to solidify every part of the game by looking to add a player or two to upgrade.

Come dog days of Aug. and into the playoffs you don't want to be wishing they had made a move that could of been the difference in a championship or not.

Enough with the stupid trades...try having a little faith. I think this team has earned it.

There is absolutely nothing stupid about suggesting the cubs could benefit form another bullpen arm. It's ok to want an upgrade while still acknowledging that the current roster is very good.

Stupid trades ? So you don't want them to do anything to be even better ?

Its not even about not having faith, its about not being content with them being (for lack of a better example) at 70% and would like to see them do whatever to be even higher then 70%.

Like i said above, there no guarantee theyll be in contention next year.. so, why not hope they do whatever necessary to win it all this year when their playing great baseball to date?

Did the Sox trade for pitching in 05? Don't think so. Cubs can keep in house at this point. That is the Benefit of a solid system.
