Let's face reality here. The Cubs need a lead off to function proper.

We are getting that fact slapped in our face right now.

If you are that dumb TL I can't go you anymore.

Going into next year as is they need to replace Nick. I really doubt that Theo will over pay on a limited D RF.

So that said they have a few options.

1. Go conservative and start Nico in AAA and Run Russell and Almora out there. Rest status que.

(I expect a hell no to this one)

2. Stay internal but push out Happ in CF or RF and move Nico to 2B.

(I expect another hell no)

3. Move Bryant to RF and Baez to 3B with Russell and Nico up the middle.

(This one is lukewarm at best)

4. Put Nico in CF and status Que.

(Lukewarm again)

5. Baez and Nico up the middle Bryant at 3B and sign a F/A for the OF.

(I'm pretty sure the base would love this but the rotation needs a upgrade more)

6. Trade from depth. Chatwood, Russell, Happ and Almora. Get a OF option for RF and use that resource towards a #2 SP.

(Best option)

We will have a new manager.

If he puts Happ in CF or Rizzo at leadoff he should be fired before training camp ends.

Everybody knows they need a leadoff hitter

Everybody but you knows what traits a leadoff hitter needs to possess.

You honest to Christ want to take Rizzo out of an RBI position , and lead off with literally the league’s worst baserunner?????

Rizzo is a great player. His main flaw is baserunning. How in God’s name do you not see that?

“Maybe Tom Brady should play linebacker.”

How about proposing a hundred more ridiculous trades?

Chatwood for a #2?

Really.....the mailman is the guy who once said that trades aren't always the best remedy but yet he has morphed in CHi55 with an onslaught of ridiculous trades that wouldn't fly in MLB the Show on Playstation.

There will be 4 months to mull that shit over....there's a pennant race going on.....who needs that crap now?

.399 OBA says that you are wrong. If you view Tony as only a RBI stick that is your tunnel vision issue.

You are right on Happ. He should be traded.

The whole point here is a player with Tony's skill set can lead off. Lead off hitters are hard to come buy right now. A power hitter is much easier to get either by trade or F/A.

And please don't fill in the Baez or Nico lead off nonsense. We have had enought of these players failing to do it.

Zo is the ideal guy but hey past his usefulness.

Who ever said that.

I said use your trade depth to get a middle of the order bat. That is a easy to gain option.

Shit look at F/A for a second. Look as t the names and tell me why would you ever trade for a arm when the talent is that deep.

NL Cy Young leader is not even a top 2 option SP F/A. I would be pretty lit up if they went that direction when weakening the Dodgers.

“Trade Russell for Trout, but make the Angels eat salary.”

“Trade from “depth”, our great second basemen. The world will line up to pay for descalso.”

This argument was over the value of Tony being the Cubs lead off.

TL says no.

I say yes he is.

The numbers state he is the answer to the lead off

Get with the program ok.

Lol that was brutal. He’s so slow. Why is he going on that when they are up 10-1 anyway?

That much. Damn guess that just supports that the O clicks with a legit lead off.

You mean.

Trade from depth.

Happ covers all 3 OF spots and can cover 2B and 3B. Has upside.

Russell GG quality glove. Has issues going on but seems to be past his O funk up until he got hit in the head

Almora holds value as a 4th OF. This one I am reaching on but there are teams that will value this with his abity to cover ground.

Chatwood is a MLB quality pitcher. And to be fair here in his opertunities he has been a quality start this year.

Let's face it he got off to a shit start here and he earned the disrespect. But that doesn't take away from his talent.

Teams will trade for this. They have and they will again and again. It is about finding the right match up.

Are your really this stupid. I mean really?

Tony has a .390 OBA. How many lead offs in baseball have this?

I could argue that Tony Gwinn could have been the greatest lead off of all time but the mentality back then was lead off= stolen base.

Times change. Keep up or get lost behind
