He is still miles better than Daniel. He also played quite well against the Saints last year so a bit of hyperbole.

If you really going to pretend a Cousins type QB as a backup to Mitch would not benefit us then it is clear you are being delusional.

The discussion is not about his being elite. It is about whether there is value in taking multiple stabs at QB and Cousins as a 3rd rounder has far exceeded his draft status as well as outplayed Trubs much less Daniel.
Last I knew he was drafted in the 4th round.

Hurts stock dropped cause he was real bad in the senior bowl and college bowl game. I mean real bad. Bad Rex Bad. Bad Mitch Bad. Stinky bad, Horribad even. Did I mention he was bad?

In the 1st half vs LSU in a nationally televised bowl game, he was 5 of 18 for 100 yards. He then followed that up with a 6 of 13 for 58 yard performance in the senior bowl when there are usually a ton of scouts there as well.

Because Hurts was so bad vs Joe Burrow led LSU, the ball kept going back to LSU as Oklahoma had no offense. LSU put up 49 points in the 1st half due to Oklahoma's inability to move the ball.

I watched that game. LSU dominated all aspects of that game. Oklahoma was horrifically outmatched. It would be like KC playing the Browns in the SB. Or varsity football vs the freshmen.?

I don't watch a lot of cowboys games, but I've only seen Prescott play worth a big contract against shit defenses. He played like absolute ass against us for three quarters and racked up stats in garbage time.

And if Mayfield sucked in that situation, I don't think you'd defend it.

Again good well thought out points on your preference of non- athletic Qb’s. And learning your lesson with athletic Qb’s.

So regardless of “ethnicity “ I’ve always favored the mobile, play-making Qb . ..going back to Fran Tarkenton when I was a kid.

And Later mobile Qb’s…..Rodger Staubach, Jeff Zorn, Joe Theisman (injured in the pocket), Warren Moon, Mark Brunell, Michael Vick (injured in the pocket), Doug Flutie ((respect this guy so much ), Donovan McNabb (he abandoned he’s mobility to fit into ‘pocket passing’) Steve Young ( I think he has the highest Qb rating all-time), Randall Cunningham( injured in the pocket) and John Elway. I’m missing others.

On Cunningham….he didn’t have good Qb coaching in Philly. Dennis Green( Minn) was much more cerebral from Qb a standpoint for Cunningham . Vick in Philly under Andy Reid (was much more cerebral from a Qb standpoint.)
Good Qb coaching matters. I think Hurts is getting this under Pederson, a former Qb

So my point, for me, the mobile Qb is the complete Qb. Ya gotta be able to make plays in or outta of the pocket. Ya gotta be able to pick up that first down. Ya gotta be able to buy time for the wr’s. NO I do not like designed run, where D can take shots at the Qb. Don’t like Qb option runs.

In Chicago, our OL dictates…..we have a mobile Qb.
Ya, Brady, Marino, Rothlesburger, the Mannings and Rivers always sucked. Foles never won anything either.

Tru dat but dis game was not your typical regular season game. It was a college football playoff semifinal game a step closer to play for the national championship and become top dawg. You had to earn your way to this selection, fake or otherwise.

THE HYPE WAS REAL

THE HYPE WAS REAL

noun: hype
  1. extravagant or intensive publicity or promotion.
verb
verb: hype; 3rd person present: hypes; past tense: hyped; past participle: hyped; gerund or present participle: hyping
  1. promote or publicize (a product or idea) intensively, often exaggerating its importance or benefits.
----------------------------------

As a noun, hype means extravagant claims about a person or product. ... Experts speculate that the word hype may be a back formation of hyperbole, or it may come from hyper — old-fashioned slang for a person who swindled someone. As a verb, to hype something is to blatantly promote it.

More power to Jalen Hurts, we have to wait for at least one season's worth of NFL game experience to even get an inkling of his abilities. Playing QB as a rookie is different than as a second or third year starter. NFL defensive gurus will analyze rookie success and change defenses for the next year. Mitch and Nagy found this out last season. I know it wasn't actually Trubisky's rookie year, 2018 just felt that way.

I watched Hurts a lot in college.

He would literally make one read and take off if it wasn’t there. I get players can improve and evolve. I’d be amazed if he’s actually anywhere near ready to be an NFL QB though.

Browns just did it with Manziel, Kizer, and Mayfield. Cards with Rosen and Murray. Titans did Mariotta, Falk and McDonald. Eagles just got Hurts even with Wentz. Jets did Hackenberg, Darnold and Morgan. Bills did Allen and Fromm. Jags did Lutton and Minshew

So not sure your premise is correct. Those are just the ones I did a quick check on but teams have clearly drafted multiple QBs within 5 years of each other and sometimes in succession.

Thanks for proving my point? 32 teams and you can only come up with a handful of examples. Still isn't the norm.

Don't be disingenuous. 32 teams would not be rebuilding or looking for a QB. You are also revising your claim.

Clearly any team has the ability to do it. Still doesn't happen much at all.

Your claim was it doesn't happen much at all. I gave you 7 examples within the past 5 years or so. Once you remove non-rebuilding teams and teams already set at QB that is probably close to half the teams that realistically would be looking for QBs.

Pissed me off that we didn't find a way to secure Anthony Gordon. I get that this team still had some real needs to fill but you can find a way to secure a 7th round pick or offer enough to UDFA the guy. Would have been a good roll of the dice. Can't get too pissed off about a guy that didn't get drafted but that need existed and he could have been had for near nothing. I would have used a 7th to take his options away.

That's what I personally would use 7th round picks on as opposed to BPA that rarely do anything. BPA in the 7th is a waste. Potential upside and benefit to the team becomes much more important here.
