let me put it this way,

is it not better to have hendry gone than having him on the team?

sure i'm a little cautiously optimistic because im not sure who will replace hendry yet(but someone could already be picked)

but this is a good move..dont see how you can spin it

The point is to have the best person you can get in each position right?

So unless you have someone better than hendry to replace him i dont agree with firing him.

Firing him midseason is even worse because now we have the chance Bush could be GM.

Things could be worse than Hendry.

What?! that is what the GM search is for. Do you think Hendry could have made some last minute waiver deals in august that would help the team? I mean cmon.

from now until the offseason....what purpose does hendry serve that makes it worse to fire him now(or whenever it was) rather than after the season?

there was nothing left for him to do

things could be worse than hendry..im not denying that

but things could also be a lot better

Things could definitely be better I agree.

I just shutter at the thought of Randy bush being the GM.

I just don't want to see Quade version 2.0.

Even if the Cubs play good the rest of the season Ricketts won't put the success as a measure of Bush's ability... he probably won't be allowed to make trades (even if he can, it would just be August salary dumps) and even Ricketts will know that the success had nothing to do with him...

the likelihood of Bush becoming GM next season has NOT increased at all.

No I don't. But do you think Bush can?

If Hendry really was done nearly a month ago we can probably blame Bush for how bad the deadline was.

Cubs have been playing well lately. Is it cuz of bush? No.

Cubs played well down the stretch last year. Was it because of Quade? No.

I just don't see the point of a midseason firing. Especially with no one to replace him.

doubtful. That is so doubtful. If ricketts is that dumb, you might as well get another hat and a new team to cheer for.

This gives enough time to find the right candidate. Why fire him after the season, rush into something you really may not want. This is a great PR move.

Same exact thing was said about Quade a year ago.

Ricketts has stated that the next GM will probably not be from within the cubs personnel

take that FWIW

I'll give you it's a great PR move but so is sending Z home.

Doesn't mean it's the right move.

I got the indication, Z will not be back. I got that from what Ricketts said in his press conference.

then what is?

there are always negatives to moves like these...but you have to think do the pros outweight the cons?

Z wasnt even a move..he retired on his own lol...you look like a damn fool if you take him back

Z was declining,off of his chain,and had a fat contract..not a bad pitcher..but still
