Make sure to count your lime carbs. They exist and can **** up your macros.

I don’t do it because my net carbs are never over 30 and you have to get up to over 50 for it to maybe kick you out of ketosis.

I have keto strips for urine. They aren’t 100% but like a home drug test.

How did you guys all get so f**ing fat that you have to put yourselves through this?

Speaking for myself, working an office job where I sit on my ass 8-10 hours a day, drink a couple of beers a day to unwind after said job, and stopped doing the active shit I used to do. Also, exiting my 20s sure are shit didn't help.

I got fuckin' fat after 10 years of that.

Turns out, when you get old and get a sedentary office job you actually have to be proactive about not turning into a massive piece of shit.

EDIT: Or at least I needed to be proactive about not turning into a massive piece of shit. YMMV

No, I did it for a cheat meal. I eat all my calories within six hours. Also, I do strips only when I want to make sure and it should be your last pee of the day or the first

Seems a bit excessive doesn't it? I've never found it that difficult to maintain or lose wait. Eat your fruits and veggies, drink water, limit alcohol and exercise.

What are fake ketos?
They are exogenous ketones, BHBs (Beta-hydroxybutyrate). BHBs are 1 of 3 ketone bodies your body makes when running on fat rather than glucose. I would not advocate the BHB powders and capsules. They are a high priced scam and will do little to nothing to help you get in nutritional ketosis, which is where you wanna be to reap the benefits of keto. These powders usually have propriety blends which means you don't even get to see how much of this, that, or actual BHBs you're actually paying for.

ok another IF question for the crowd.

What CAN you have when you are in the fasting period?

Water? Tea? Coffee? Diet Soda? Anything?
I've always gone by the rule anything but water breaks the fast. Certainly anything with calories would break a fast. There is such a thing as a dry fast in which you eat nor drink anything at all including water. Studies show doing a dry fast is 3 times more effective than a water fast.

How do you tell when you are in or out of Ketosis?
You'll feel a difference but can also get a ketone blood test meter that, much like a glucose meter measures your sugar level, the ketone meter measure the ketones in your blood. There are urine strips as well that are cheaper but they're cheaper for a reason, not a reliable way at all to measure your state of ketosis.

There are other health benefits to be had. Just so happens weight loss comes extremely easy when you avoid sugar.

Didn't really put myself through anything bad. Went from a meat and potatoes guy who could no longer eat meat without it causing severe stomach problems to being a meat and green vegetables guy who no longer suffered the slightest bit of stomach problems when eating meat.

Update: Had my first cheat meal on Saturday night on Keto. I am allowing myself one a month no matter how the crazies say you cant. It knocked me out of ketosis. I went on a 24 hour fast and drank my fake Ketos. Went back in Ketosis in 12 hours and lost 3 pounds in 2 days.

It can be done.

The urine strips used for testing ketones is pretty useless especially after one becomes fat adapted. Drinking BHBs is not putting you in nutritional ketosis. You'll piss ketones from about 30 minutes after taking the BHBs til about 3 hours later, and then you piss all that money away and they gone.

For realz, not trying to deny you your 1 cheat day per month. I'm not one that would panic if I ate something that knocked me out of ketosis. Just saying the exogenous ketones are a scam so save your money. Once you've done keto for a good amount of time, 6 months to a year, you're body becomes used to using fat as its energy source so it's not gonna take very long to get back into ketosis after cheating anyway.

The urine strips only show you have ketones being wasted in your piss. It is no indicator of how efficiently those ketones are being used by the body or if you are in nutritional ketosis. Blood meters much better for measuring. It's also common for the strips to give much lower readings when you do get fat adapted and your body is actually using ketones far more efficiently and not wasting as many.

As for me, working a desk job, traveling frequently for work and thus eating out every night (and drinking beer), and working in an office of a company that sells pizzas - we had a pizza kitchen in the office and you could make one whenever you wanted, so on days when I was too busy to get out....Pizza!

So there's my pathetic story.

Next time ask how we're doing on our attempts to lose weight instead of being dicks.

I find, usually, the ones that say things about people being fat. They are, in fact, fat themselves or they smoke two packs a day, have about 40 prescription narcotics, and smashing red bulls all day.
