You have to realize that an increased metabolism is the other half of the equation when I say "calorie deficit". If you eat 2,000 calories and you burn 2,100 you are in a calorie deficit. If you eat 3,000 calories and you burn 3,100 you are in a calorie deficit.

My sister is a weird one. She lives 2 states away from me so I only take what she says. She might be getting problems because of the types of foods with the oil like fries for all I know. I just know she is very picky with her diet whenever I see her and how things are cooked.

Keto works. There is no question. It's a compliance issue though that I think makes it hard for a lot of people to stick to. I am sure it would have worked for me if I stuck with it. Luckily, what I do works too. One thing with me... if I don't count my calories, I will see candies around the office like bite size reeses and have the mindset of "ok, just one". Which by the end of the day turns into 5 which might be 100 calories of pure sugar. If I count it, it's in writing and it's official. Part of it is a mindset that works for me.
Ok. Well yeah, it's much better to have an optimized metabolism anyway. I know I prefer it.

Would be less surprising if the oils your sister has a problem with are the oils used in restaurants and the cheaper oils people usually use at home thinking there is no difference in these oils but there is in that restaurants and the cheaper oils used at home are the overly processed ones that even people on keto and other low carb diets make it a priority to avoid. Ghee, coconut oil, olive oil, avocado oil and tallow are the ones considered as good fats.

I think the sustainability of keto seems more daunting in the beginning when switching from a high carb diet to keto and you're left to wonder how you're gonna get all that fat in. If you like meats and eggs, that's a real good start. Then you become more aware of those healthy oils and ways to add them in. Suddenly eating meals consisting of eggs and bacon or a burger patty, steak, chicken, or fish with green vegetables seems pretty normal cause all are common meals. Then for salad, you just find better dressing than most that are sold with those cheaper oils or just go with olive oil. Now, it's not daunting at all and you realize all that's left is to avoid the sugary drinks and high carb snacks. Not hard to find sugarless drinks more exciting than water and high fat/low carb nuts and pork rinds make for good and even more satiating snacks as do avocados and even berries to a lesser degree.

Congrts but you sound like a ******. Your daughters were athletes correct? Did they eat whatever they want? I highly believe they didn’t. I am one of 4 brothers. All ate more than me. All are smaller. There is genetics involved. Also, 165 pounds? I see why you get hammered easily. No offense

My wife is Asian and eats rice probably 3 times a day. You would think with all that carbo's she would be a whale.
5'2 120 lbs soaking wet . I guess it's in her genes geared to burn it .

Actually, the oldest living people are Asian and they eat a very high carb low meat diet. I don’t believe your wife is a 120 pound Asian. It if so. Kudos not because she is smalll. It’s because they are loyal. White girls give me head aches

Nothing wrong with being different. We'd all be extremely boring if we were all the same. You seem a lot more pissy lately with your posting than you used to before that long term CCS suspension.

My daughter is an athlete and decided on her own at a young age to go gluten free. Her diet basically consists of a lot of sauteed vegetables, salads, and some fish and chicken. 90% of drinks consumed are just water and, like me now, prefers to snack on macadamia nuts or pecans. She has an obsession with working out as well.

White Rice Linked to Diabetes Risk

Researchers looked at data from four studies: two in Asian countries (China and Japan) and two in Western countries (the U.S. and Australia). All participants were diabetes-free when the studies began.

On average, people from Asian countries ate about four servings of white rice daily. Individuals in Western countries, however, ate less than five servings a week. The study found that the more servings of white rice a person eats per day, the greater their risk for developing type 2 diabetes, the form of diabetes most closely linked to obesity.

According to the new study, diabetes risk rises by about 10% with each increased serving per day of white rice.

While you will often see Asia credited for being so extremely healthy with their high carb diet, truth is that diabetes has been on a fast and steady rise for a long time among Asians. Asian countries contribute to more than 60% of the world’s diabetic population. They now seem to have a genetic predisposition for diabetes and tend to develop diabetes at both a younger age and at a lower waist circumference than does the Western population.

Mexicans also tend to have a high carb diet that's heavy on rice and obesity there is almost as bad as the US. They make the added mistake of using high carbs with high fat of lesser quality. Combining a lot of carbs with a lot of fat is counterproductive and only leads to more fat being stored. And, like the US, obesity in Mexico began to skyrocket in the 80s when processed foods became widely available.

I like this article on it. It's all about moderation. Asian cultures eat a lot of white rice, however, they eat almost no bread or any other food high on the glycemic index other than that. In the US, a lot of people will have a heaping bowl of frosted flakes for breakfast followed by a gigantic sub on white bread for lunch and then a serving of rice for dinner. And probably some unhealthy snack between each meal too.

Asian cultures have a higher risk of diabetes. Also keep in mind that a lot of experts think that a big factor might be genetic. However, they also have a higher life expectancy. It goes to show you that even if they are eating too much white rice, they are doing everything else right.

Ridiculous to say Asia has a higher life expectancy. Fact is while Japan does have highest, there is only 1 or 2 other tiny Asian countries even in the top 20 of the world in life expectancy. Also extremely silly to attempt to link a small difference in life expectancy to diet when there are so many other more obvious factors such as infant mortality rate, drug use (including prescribed drugs which US uses more of than all other countries combined), sedentary life style, violent crimes, etc.

Happy for your wife, fat Lou, but Life expectancy in Philippines even rated well below the US so there won’t be anybody making the outrageous claim that their diet makes them have a higher life expectancy. Haha.

No i wasnt making a claim her eating habits give her a higher life expectancy, i was just sharing what her and her family usually ate in reference to diabetes.
I wasnt aware of the life expectancy in the Philippines and neither is the wife. Wifes Grandfather just died at 85
Grandmother died early but it was from chewing tobacco leaves, lol.

Let's just compare the US to Japan because that is the country that I am mainly talking about. China, Vietnam, South Korea, Taiwan, Philippines all do not eat as healthy as Japan although they eat better than the US.

When you dumb it down, Japan has lower obesity (the lowest in the world) while the US has a high rate of obesity. Japan eats a lot more rice than the US. Japan has a higher life expectancy than the US. Japan has a lower rate of cardiovascular disease than the US. Both countries have a high rate of diabetes. I think it would be easy for one to use critical thinking to determine which country of the 2 has more diabetes due to genetics and which is due to lifestyle.

Married a Vietnamese girl. So true about the loyalty and family virtues. You are lucky with the high maintenance not being an issue though. A lot of Asians like to buy expensive clothes, cars, furniture, etc.

O'h so true. My wifes friend is very materialistic. Has every designer piece of clothing for every part of her body.
Good thing her husband has the bucks.

I beg the wife to buy clothes or exspensive makeup. She's the farthest thing from being materialistic.
But like just yesterday i received a package in the mail that she bought for me . I am Lucky/
