Past those numbers, Hammer can get physical and doesn't shy away from contact.

im not sure what you are trying to say teacher. :)

he is a physical player, i think they gave to much credit to him though with the kronwall comparisons.

what move have you not liked that the hawks have made in the last few years? just curious.

Hell, I wasn't a huge fan of the Hawks trading for Oduya but he proved me wrong. How about that one?

This deal is on pace with market, I wish it were for less. As I said, this deal depends on the other deals that hopefully follow it...you read that part, right?

He could've been a Kronwall type had his offensive game developed.

But, not likely to happen.

the market trend has gone up a bit, but the set market for this offseason hasnt been established. waiting it out could have been better, worst case scenario you keep hammer.

he proved you wrong in a contract year in a HUGE sample size. thanks for playing though.

It was Lidstrom who Scotty compared him to. Yikes. :D

I was reading how physical and aggressive (and good) he was playing at the World's not long ago. Thanks, Q, for bottling (and practically botching) up his development. :smh:

Thanks for playing? I love how you are right about everything and try to end a conversation like that. Quality. And this is why having a conversation with you is pointless.

I think that gif needs a bit of change. Maybe McD driving with Q and Stan in the backseat. Not only is McD trying to drive, but also he is reaching back in the backseat between Q and Stan (in kids' bodies) to keep them from fighting with each other. Ya know, like the way ma or paw used to keep siblings separated and civil while in the car?

So I'm not weird for assuming this happened too?

#4 has the distinct feel of a young promising player that has been stuffed into a role in order to fill a need on a team. All at the expense of neutering his actual development and killing any type of play that could be considered dynamic.

"Look Nik, we have Keith who can carry the mail and outskate most of the league. We're set with that kind of d-man. We also have big bad Seabrook to play the body so that's covered too. We've decided to not bring back Brent Sopel. Listen carefully now because this is where you come in."

:crying:

About the only optimism that I can pull from this trade is that, in the last month of the regular season, Oduya and Leddy were a real good pairing for the Hawks. If Oduya's presence helps Leddy grow, that'd be real nice.

But that's probably going to be on the 2nd D-pairing, not the 3rd. And Hjalmarsson makes waaaaay too much money to be a 3rd pairing guy. Ditto with Oduya. One of those two has to have their salary taken off the books, and it won't be the guy that just re-signed.

As some of you said, though, letting Hjalmarsson go could be scary, if he realizes his full potential elsewhere. Glad I'm not making that call.

Serious and Dews: Do you guys think McD is involved in player/coaching personnel decisions, too? Or just the marketing/PR/that kind of stuff decisions? Curious.

not really if you sign a bunch of players that are "ehh" instead of a handful that are really good. Its called false depth, and that is what bowman did last offseason, hope this isnt a trend.

Did you read what he posted? Nothing what you are talking about. He was saying that they raised ticket prices to pay for players like oduya...thats not true. They have a salary cap, thats it. More revenue does not equal being able to pay for more contracts

Unless of course you are a team near the cap fkoor who wants more revenue to invest but the hawjs were going to spend right to the cap regardless
