Chatwood, LaStella, Schwindel, Azolay, Mervis, Candelerio and possibly Paredes.

It's the CSF All-Stars!!!

Just off the top of my head....feel free to add others I missed.

BTW.....if Baez goes 3 for 4 today....he'll want him back in Chicago like wanted Rizzo back.

Not bad, but only a utility guy/PH....ok at that. Too lazy to look but I don't think he ever played 100 games in a season.

The only mistake the Cubs made with that world series lineup was letting Schwarber go.

Tauchman's gotta be wondering what he did to end up in Counsell's doghouse.

The only saving grace for Hoyer right now is that Morel is also batting a buck fifty since joining the Rays. Unfortunately Bigge has a spotless ERA since the trade.

They will finish around .500 and out of the wildcard, not that anyone would be afraid if them even if they made it in. Fortunately football starts soon so I don't have to care.

Well back to .500. 18-14 post ASB. The team is better than it was going in. Pen is stronger and Jed just DFA'd Bote. So some turn over is under way and it appears that Jed wants a true UI in place going into the off season.

I think the rules are 1 position player and 1 pitcher in September. Most sites are guessing Caissie and Wicks are the picks. So we might see some more cuts going in. 40 and current roster. I would expect Shaw getting a look as it gives Jed the ability to trade Hoerner with Matt getting a taste. I could also see Tauchman cut to bring up Caissie. This allows Jed to bring up both. Wisdom is another one which gives Ballesteros a roster spot.

I have given up on the play offs but if Jed starts to get the next wave opportunities in September then I will be pleased to follow the team.

All they need to roster is Cassie and Cowles. In 25 though, they are going into a crunch. They have plenty of room to drop.

Mdrigal, Wisdom, Mervis, Almonte, Wingerter. Nido or Bethancourt.

I'm guessing Cowles is Shaw? If so I would agree that would be the case, but the rules state 26->28 and has to be one position and one pitcher added. The 40 man is unchanged and any addition comes off or has to be added and following removals of current 40 man.

Removal:

Mervis: He is hitting .237 with 13 HR in Iowa. He has fallen off the wagon. This is a easy choice.
Madrigal: Shaw is a better option at 3B or 2B.
Wisdom: He has no purpose on the team going forward. The roster spot should be used towards the future.

This opens 40 man spots for Shaw, Ballesteros and Cassie. A arguement could be made reguarding a lack of PA at AAA but the same could have been said about PCA last year and Jed did it anyways. So going by history we should lean towards all 3 getting a promote and roster spots opened up.

Pitching wise 2 guys should be brought up. Kilian and Wicks. IMO Hendricks should be axed. This opens up a 40 man for Wicks as he is still on the 60 day IL and opens up a active roster spot. Plus it opens up a rotation spot.

Kilian has been starting at Iowa. 3.04 ERA in 26 IP . Wicks has 6 starts but holds a 7.16 ERA. So he is a mixed bag but could use some more innings. I think both need more innings after their IL stints. I would just piggyback them and start the one who matches up better that day.

Going into the offseason the have a few MLB trade chips.

Bellinger if he pulls his opt: 27.5M 2025 and 25M 2026.
Hoerner: 11.5M 2025 and 12M 2026
Tauchman 2 years of Arb control.

All 3 should hold some weight in deals as all are of value to teams. In reality Tauchman in a full time stint would be a solid lead off at a bargain. Hoerner yet again is over 20 SB and yet again has lead off tools that have been mishandled under Counsel. He was better utilized under Ross and had better success in that role.

And to push this point:

As a lead off 2024:

Happ: .211/.325/.423
Hoerner: .267/.322/.374
Tauchman: .290/.350/.398

Craig has made some questionable decisions and this is one that stands out.

PCA with a 14 second inside the parker then follows it the next game with a 434 foot blast. I say he may have a future.

He needs to get his Oba over .350 to get out of the bottom half of the line up. That is when he becomes a stud. Right now he shows flashes.
