Hou's response in the '04 Pacers vs. '12 Heat discussion to me seemed to try to imply that Artest wouldn't be much of a factor in the series.

I have already pointed out evidence in the very link he cited which shows that Artest has affected LBJ in a negative manner.

Yes, like when you decided that because LBJ did better than his rookie averages against Artest for 4 regular season games.

Ummm he did?

That's not "cherry picking" stats. You were the one creaming over this "prime" Ron Artest in 2003-2004 so as a point I showed that even though Artest likely should have dominated a rookie Lebron..he didn't. Therefore assuming that a "prime" Artest would somehow hold a "prime" Lebron in check would be a rather foolish thing.

Even more foolish considering Artest "holding Lebron in check" for his career has consisted of Lebron James going for career averages against him.

I think Rami can't distinguish the idea(among others) that just because someone thinks Lebron James would still put up numbers against Artest and not be incredibly bothered by him that it doesn't mean/meant Artest sucked. Just that Lebron James is pretty fucking good.

Both of them are pretty good.

Artest didn't score under 16 points (capping off at 31 point) until their 7th head-to-head meeting.

Not much more than a blip on the statistical radar. let alone that this Lebron James never matched up against a prime Ron Artest so showing some stat that takes into account Lebron James as a player in 2007 rather than trying to look at what he JUST DID A WEEK AGO. Misses the analysis mark by a mile.

Oh wow! What a stupidly arbitrary cut off. 16 points! It's neither Artests career average nor his average in any season...so why the hell would you pick it?

I've done some more number crunching and Lebron James has never scored less than 16 points against Peace ever!

Why 16? Who the **** cares?!?! It's a number!

It shows that Artest had some offense in him. And he was also a guy who could take away some offense to the opposing team's best perimeter player.

This small 12 game sample-size of a prime Artest versus a less than prime (but still pretty damn good) LBJ is not very telling.

James had his typical good games and his not-so-good games with a high dose of turnovers.

In a playoff series, it would have been a more telling story about how the match-up would've gone when it mattered most.

No it doesn't.

16 points is a ridiculously arbitrary and meaningless cut off. You use 20pts for James as a basis, and Artest goes to 16...?

Who's cherry picking now?

Talk about being a cliche machine.

I stop reading after this paragraph because it shows your stubbornness.

You are in love with LeBron James.

I am pretty sure you would rank the 2012 Heat over the 2011 Mavericks as well.

LBJ and Wade are both better than Nowitzki and Bosh is the next best player after all.

So asinine.

I'm fucking stupid when it comes to the NBA and I would rank the 2012 Heat over the 2011 Mavs.

If LeBron plays like he played in this years finals last year, the Heat win. No doubt. Also, Bosh found his role on the team which made them better and Wade was good. Battier makes them better. Chalmers much better than last year.

Sorry for being really delayed on posting that, but I was reading this thread and realized how dumb that sounded. Along with a ton of other dumb shit that even I, an NBA Special person, wouldn't say or post.

And if the Mavs defended this more aggressive/better posting version LBJ in the same fashion which the Thunder defended him, then the Heat also win. No doubt.

How dare you say Ron Artest isn't a better defender than most of the NBA players out there!

Talk about being a cliche machine.

1. 16 was the lowest number of points he scored. And it isn't cherry-picking. It's just showing that he was more than just a defensive stud.

2. Just because something is cliche, doesn't mean it isn't true.

It's called team defense. The Mavericks didn't guard James one-on-one as the Thunder did for the vast majority of the time.

That could be a wee bit of the reason James was held in-check in 2011 and was not in 2012.

Umm, that's the definition of cherry picking.

Use 20 for Lebron.

Use 16 for Artest because it's the lowest he scored up to a certain point..meanwhile you picked 20 for Lebron..why?

It's just showing that he was more than just a defensive stud.

So 16 pts is the cut off for showing a player is "more than just a defensive stud"?

Nice swipe at Bruce Bowen in here too.

20 for LeBron is well below his career average. 16 for Artest is not. That is why.
