I would love to play with you guys.

Why do you all have to live so far away? :p

I sent out the email for this weekend, it's my daughter's birthday so I can't play until 3pm. It's also the last time we'll be able to play at the Y most likely, so we'll have to find a new spot after that.

How about a spot closer to where I live (which is near cool007) Just a suggestion and wishful thinking on my part. If you played closer to where I live I would be able to play for sure in the near future. However, I'm not sure where everyone else is in comparison and it wouldn't be fair to them to have to go out of their way just so a few other people can have more convenience.

I don't really care where we play too mcuh given that I live pretty much in the middle of everyone who plays, so it can't be too far a drive for me no matter what.

Again I don't know where everyone who plays lives, but for me, cool, someone else who lives in North Chicago (fola maybe?) a place like say Buffalo Grove would be a bit more convenient. If the others live around the Schaumburg area then going to a place like Buffalo Grove really would be more convenient and wouldn't affect travel greatly. Of course it really depends on where everyone else is. DT doesn't care because he's in the middle of everyone, but the people on the end care because they are farther away, so...I guess it really doesn't matter one way or another.

I suggested Buffalo Grove, but the location really depends on the group as a whole. I don't want to make one group of people travel out of their way just so I don't have to go as far.

Yeah, here in North Side, we have ton of open courts so it should not be a problem.

If others are willing to travel little further then it would be great.

Link to map

Here's a link to a map of the towns of everyone that I know where they live. I know three other guys (fola, chris, and kris) live I believe somewhere in the north chicago area if I'm not mistaken.

Brian's the main outlier as he's so far south in joliet, and micah's a bit far south. While Jeff is basically straight west of Schaumburg (or might as well be because he has to take 90 to get into the area, so he has to head further south before he can head back north).

Based upon this map a place like Buffalo Grove really wouldn't be too bad for everyone except Brian and Micah. But they have to go quite a distance anyway. Me, Raj, and the 3 in the North Chicago area all live in relative close proximity to each other.

Like cool007 said if you guys are willing to go a bit farther there are a TON of courts that we could use. I happen to know a lot of outdoor ones myself, but they're all in the Mundelein/Vernon Hills/Libertyville area which is a bit farther north than the aforementioned Buffalo Grove. It's really up to whoever organizes this and everyone's willingness to travel. I figured I'd throw this out there since you need a new place anyway.

I must note that I don't actually know any place in Buffalo Grove, but I know it's a bit closer for us northsiders. Perhaps someone else knows?

I'm down south in Joliet, but since we play once every 2 weeks, driving an hour or so isn't too big of a deal for me. I use to commute from Joliet to Northbrook 5 days a week. So I don't mind driving a bit.

I can't go this Sunday because I have to work. But if we play again on the 31st, I'm in.

Well if Micah is ok with driving a bit longer too, then I'll ask cool and fola if they know some places that we can play.

Micah will probably play in Buffalo Grove, he doesn't post here, but he'll just drive to my house and carpool with me. Though it's also 20 minutes farther for Jeff and Fred most likely.

It's also 20 minutes closer for me, Raj, Fola, and the other North Chicago people. So it's like one side is sacrificing for the convenience of the other. Buffalo Grove is still pretty close to everyone anyway. Now I just need to find some place to play...

My impression is that it's not any closer for any north chicago people, because they all are going to take 90 out to the burbs. Once they get on the expressway Schaumburg is just as close as Buffalo Grove (actually most likely closer).

Which makes it closer for you (whom we've never played with yet so I have no idea how frequently you would play at all) and Raj, and 20 minutes farther or the same distance for everyone else.

It doesn't really matter to me, as I said, pretty much any move outside of the Schaumburg area is going to hurt more people than it helps most likely, because it's pretty close to the center of where everyone is coming from.

I'm still good wherever, i talked to Micah he has no problem with Buffalo Grove.

I guess this is where my lack of experience of roads and highways and the like hurts me. I guess Schaumburg is still the most logical place to go for EVERYONE'S convenience. But since you said you needed a new place I thought I'd throw a place that's a little bit closer (or so I thought) to the northsiders. If you want to stay in Schaumburg that's fine by me. I can carpool with Raj and and all is well.

As for how much I'm going to play, once we hit June, I'd be free pretty much everyday so I'd be able to play as much as I wanted granted my parents are cool with me going to play basketball for 3-5+ hours. This is assuming that the schedule stays the same (Every other Sunday from 1-4).

If you know of a good place to play outdoors that meets these requirements:

1) Has quality courts (full sized not, mini, nice surface, painted lines, rims at the right height and not bent etc)
2) Isn't crowded on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon

or a place to play indoors that we can get into for a reasonable fee and isn't crowded

Then I'm game to go to Buffalo Grove, or just about anywhere within 40 minutes of my house. I only know of one set of outdoor courts that meets those requirements and it's in lombard.

I know of a couple park district buildings in Schaumburg we could play in at a reasonable price, but they're likely to be too crowded.

It's very hard to find outdoor courts that have a full court. There's a park by my house that has a nice half court, but I don't know one that has a full court. I am going to assume this requirement is due to playing full court 5 v 5? If it's 3 on 3 like what I hear the first game was, then half court would be fine I would imagine, but if full court's what you play then I'm fine with that. Courts by my house also are hardly ever crowded...but that's really irrelevant because I don't think that you're all going to end up going there. I know of several parks in Buffalo Grove that have courts, however I don't know what the conditions are since I have never been there myself. In the end I guess Schaumburg will be the place to be. The one advantage I see to playing outdoors is that 1) from my experience they're less crowded that indoor courts and 2) they're free :)

Well there's my spiel. Again, as the organizer I leave the final decision to you.
