Uhhh, the best war movie is Braveheart. It's not even a competition (yes, I'm aware it's a subjective statement

There are some Great War movies.
Some I liked a lot, BoB (series of course), Saving Private Ryan, We were Soldiers, Twelve O'Clock High, Platoon (I know, but I liked it), A Bridge to Far, Patton, The Bridge over river Kwai, Blackhawk Down, The Longest Day, All Quiet on the Western Front.
Honorable mention to movies with war references, Forrest Gump, Deer Hunter.
Just to name a few.
(Should also mention MASH, my all time favorite show)
But to be honest... war movies lose something once you've been in one.
Anyone with half a pea brain could guess what happens.

I feel the same way about engineering movies. I kid. Favorite nerd show 'Halt and Catch Fire' season one and half of season 2.
Overlooked war movie I mentioned a while back "A Walk In The Sun". Nobody says a thing, Dana Andrews you fools! It doesn't hold up 100% but it's cool.
Also **** Braveheart, I liked it, then I didn't like it sugar tits.
Other war movies I enjoyed.
Gettysburg
The Enemy Below
Lawrence of Arabia
Enemy at the Gates
Glory
Zulu
Fury
Kelly's Heroes (comedy disguised as a war movie)
The Great Escape (prisoners of war)
I know, every fan of the genre has seen all of these, except 'A Motherfucking Walk In The Motherfucking Sun'. Am I getting through to anyone?
Edited to add The Dirty Dozen.
I been watching this movie about if Trump became POTUS of the U.S., have not finished it yet, but it has been 10/10 GOAT.
Gallipoli and King Rat were pretty decent and entertaining war movies that I can watch any time they are on.
I second Paths of Glory, but without the pretentiousness.
Ivan's Cildhood. A lot of very good Russian and German war movies.
Then there is La Grande Illusion, which is set during war, but is more than a war movie.
