Yeah I kind of figured that he would clear given his salary, but I wasn't certain that he was going to accept the assignment.

That could be, but if that was the case why wouldn't teams DFA guys with huge contracts.

There are rules if you have 5+ service years they have to pay you even if they DFA you. Like Sori Cubs just coudlnt DFA him and not pay him if he decided to hit FA market. Wells hasnt accured that. Just ARB

Ah that makes sense then that there are service time limits on it. I guess this is similar to the situation with DeWitt.

My question is though at end of year does he become a minor league FA? Cause he wont go to arb not being on 40 man roster i presume

That is an interesting question. I wouldn't be shocked to see Randy Wells get another crack at the rotation if trades go down however.

And I am rooting for Boise so I can watch him on MiLB.tv. My guess is he is going to Mesa for a little bit for basically XST to get him back in baseball shape.

Word is he is going to Mesa to get acclimated before being sent out on assignment. My guess is Peoria or Daytona is the most likely landing places.

Doubt he goes straight to Daytona, but that's just me, but then again he does only have 2.5 years to make it to MLB.

Wait, Matt Szczur is on an MLB contract IIRC, is he almost out of options?

What I could find by digging is that Szczur was added to the 40 man roster this November. He was optioned for the first time this year. He has two more years of options remaining. So that makes Concepcion, Soler, and Szczur that have to stick on the big league roster by 2015.

They say he hasnt played in almost a year maybe more I think he will need some time maybe 2-4 weeks of just hitting and fielding before he gets assigned would be my guess.
